It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Last Thanksgiving, I was pre-op...and one of those trying to find something that fit...

This year, I am still trying but only because I've gotten to goal and am down so many sizes.

We are having Thanksgiving at my daddy's so I have no clue what the menu will be...however, I will probably make homemade cranberry sauce, a marble pumpkin cheesecake, and possibly my cornbread dressing. (mine is never cooked in the bird, it's always in a pan by itself) and take it with us.

This thread was a fantastic idea, Diana...and the menus posted are fantastic.

Well, I'll be on my In-laws' farm in Virginia....pulling on my size 8 jeans (that are a bit baggy...), riding on my 10 year old son's dirt bike, online shopping, and hanging out. I'm down 167 pounds in 16 months so my wardrobe is all new and my energy is through the roof!

Our menu (and I'll probably sample it all....maybe just a bite of the bread with a whole lot of butter)--
Turkey
Ham
Green beans (plain for the kids so I'll probably skip these)
Broccoli casserole
Sweet potato casserole (yum! My favorite)
Mashed potatoes
Stuffing
Gravy
Homemade bread
Pecan pie
Cheesecake
Brownies

We'll be there all weekend so I've also made a couple of quiches to bring and some hot ham&cheese dip to share. I'm thinking those deviled eggs sound mighty good so they may go on the menu too.

Mmmmmmm.......can't wait!

Smoke a whole hog?!?  That sounds fabulous!

We were thinking (OK, *I* was thinking) about ordering a terducken this year, but it didn't happen.  Maybe next year, when the house is done, and I can have more than 12 people.

I'm super excited.  This is my first Thanksgiving as a post-op and I'm looking forward to all the yummy food.  I'm going to my mom's but I'll be doing all the cooking for her.  Two large bone-in turkey breasts (we don't like dark meat), mashed potatoes with butter and sour cream, mashed cauliflower with butter, green bean-bacon-potato-onion casserole, pumpkin pie, and I'm making some home made dinner rolls.  I get gas if I eat too many carbs, and if I'm going to bother eating a dinner roll, it had better be damn good and not one of those store bought ones.  :)

And the campaign is already working - we've enticed at least one convert and gotten a committed VSGer to question her decision.  Our evil plan is working.

Is that commited VSGer me?    Cuz if not, you'll have to up your count by 1.    I just posted in your benefit thread, and again, I just want to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
Well I used to have a link here, but you know how that goes...

This thread is a stark contrast to the current thread by an RNYer who is upset she won't be able to eat anything at Thanksgiving. I'm 4 weeks out and planning to have turkey and gravy for thanksgiving dinner, and that is why I got the DS. I would fail living a life of perpetual denial and I hate that people think somehow it's more moral to lose weight that way.
