There are non drug therapies for anxiety, such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Someone close to me has had improvement of his anxiety issues through this therapy.
It sounds as though you're overwhelmed with your medical issues. Please, think about seeing a therapist to help you cope.

I don't have anxiety every day. I have anxiety sometimes but I do not think it's related to my WLS. And no, I don't say to myself deep down that it's better to lose weight on my own. I think it's fine to get medical help when we need it, whether it's help losing weight or help treating any other medical problem.
I'm sorry you feel so anxious and regret having surgery. I think it would be a good idea to get some treatment for the anxiety, but of course that's up to you.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I regret my CRAP-BAND, but for very different reasons. After 16 fills I never reached restriction, so I can relate somewhat to the anxiety. For me I was very depressed that the band didn't work. There was much anxiety about trying everything only to have my dreams crushed from being stuck with a POS band that doesn't work.
I would strongly suggest that you try meds for you anxiety. You don't hesitate to take you BP meds do you? Same thing. For you it's a needed med.
So sorry about your cancer diagnosis! Sending prayers!!!
I may be mistaken, but I feel that I've seen similar posts from you on this same subject before.
I'm a little confused by your words in the post. You say that you want researchers on WLS to please read this, and then go on to talk about your heart difficulties, but where is the tie in with your WLS??
You say I wish more people would talk about the MENTAL ANXIETY WLS causes Post Op..,
but all your anxiety mentioned does not seem to come from WLS, or at least not that alone. All the other things you seem to be mentioning are from other medical conditions from what I can read from your post.
I hope you do get better physically, but I really don't see the direct, or even in some cases in your post, the indirect correlation to you having had WLS.
I hope anyone reading your post continues to do their own research of all the surgeries and realizes your post seems to be about other things, not really, really WLS.

I have anxiety and I take meds for it. I am so glad that I do. It has made a huge change in how I look at life. My body is damaged from years of being 450 lbs. I have arthritis and messed up disks in my low back, upper back and my neck. I also have severe sleep apnea and serious carpal tunnel. I have arthritis in both my knees and one knee has water on it and the other has a tumor in the bone just above the knee itself. I have heel spurs so serious there are days I just can't bear to walk.
I also have depression and anxiety. For icing on the cake I have insomnia, pcos, and thyroid issues. I just had a panniculectomy and now my left leg is filled with blood clots from top of my thigh to the middle of my shin.
I have had times when I wanna break down and cry, so I will. Then I pick myself back up and go on. It's the hand I have been dealt. I may never chase my first grandchild due in february but I will be alive to see him come into this world. I will also do my best to be here for him as long as I can.
This is the gift given to me by my antidepressant and my antianxiety meds. I have also spoken with a counselor. It all has worked together. I'm not done, not by a long shot. I am however going to get thru this all. One day at a time. You can too. Counseling can help you. Don't decide on the meds today. Wait until you feel more stable then make your decision. Either way having someone to talk to can lift heavy burdens from you.
Good luck and let us know how you are.

WLS does not cause anxiety. Your comorbidities were bad, bad, bad before you had WLS and perhaps it was too late for you to reap any benefits from losing weight.
If you are having memory issues, I would look into a CPAP for your apnea and get your vitamin levels checked. I wonder if you are B12 deficient.
And get on some antidepressants, for crying out loud.

trust me my ANXIETY is from Post Op Wls not my ailments...yes I have alot of ailments i just mentioned it so everyone knows what i have. I have to worry , worry , worry when i dont do something i am suppose to do .. like take my vitamins, calcium..its a very stressful feeling i have to deal with daily..I'm sure my burning back is from not enough calcium.
I also had Post Dramatic Stress Syndrome after my Open Heart surgery, from the respitory failure..did therapy for that for 18 months and it helped. I had also asked OH for them to start a Heart Patient support forum with a responce that they cannot do that..?????????why not?!!!!!!! I'm sorry. Central Sleep Apnea is not the same as 'sleep apnea'

Yes..."Post Dramatic Stress" seems to sum it up pretty well.
You need labs...thorough labs...some people get really crazy--really, really crazy...and it isn't the surgery, it's from not doing proper follow-up...from a Vitamin B deficiency. Your problems sound like they are on that road.
