What happened to simply being nice???
At 5'5", I weigh 134#, 10 pounds under my goal and at an ideal body weight according to my PCP and surgeon.
However~
My 15 year old's EMPLOYER asked him on Saturday if I was done losing weight...Now, how do you suppose he is supposed to answer that?
How about "heroin thin" as of last week?
"I don't believe that you weighed 252#! That CAN'T be true!" Oh yea, I made that up.
People wouldn't think to say to us, at our heaviest, "Wow, I think you have gained enough weight. You should stop." But, when it comes to weight LOSS, the filters come off and people say what they think.
Some are jealous. Some are ignorant. All are annoying...

Another thought - sometimes people that knew us when we were at our heaviest believe that they have the right to say whatever they want to us. And some of us let them do that when we were heavy. If that happened, it can be difficult to convince them that they are no longer welcome to be tactless.

I just feel bad for people like that. They must be so unhappy with themselves and or lives that they feel like they need to bring others down. I follow my Mom's advice, "if you cannot say anything nice, shut your damn mouth!"

I don't know why I care about being mistaken for a man, but I'm wearing bright pink nail polish. I dont' know many men who wear pink nail polish-well except for the cross dresser who rides his/her ? bike around town.

You should never be surprised by the comments stupid people make because they just don't have the intellectual capacity to understand that they're insulting you.

If your children are not complaining then nothing is wrong. Children are USUALLY the ones that speak with honesty and no prejudices. The next time you put on your "skinny jeans" ask a little girl or boy how you look. But! Be ready for an "honest" answer.! You'll either get a "Nooooo" or a "Wow!!! Oh yeah, I remember those days after surgery when a lot of yutzes let garbage fly out of their pieholes.
I turned it into a game that became a riot and kept me laughing. After awhile, the TDTL (too dumb to live) got the hint.
#1. Never, ever, never explain yourself to idiots or personalize anything they say.
#2. Turn their stupid comments back into their laps.
Example: "I'll consider wearing turtlenecks if you consider wearing a mask... having a brain transplant...getting a nose/boob/butt job." Etc...
loved the husband who isn't getting sex going to be an ex. My response would be gee hon thanks so much for your unsolicited input and you wonder why at night I just mumble good night and turn over on my side?
now that aunt I know down south they have an expression that goes like this Bless Your Heart which really means go **** yourself I would have simply said to her Oh dear here you go again suffering from VD and when she shoots daggers at you as to what is VD you simply smile and tell her is verbal diarrhea . I don't recall asking you for your opinion so just move on.
that neighbor at the restaurant I would simply say to her oh dear another sufferer of VD and explain what that is and sadly say to her I hear theres not a cure yet and walk on.
You could also be a ***** and wear a turtleneck at church and when auntie makes her comment as to how you "listened" to her I would say oh no anything to shut you up. Some people shouldn't be turned loose to the general population without a muzzle. As one wls patient to another seriously don't allow anyone to shred at your self esteem. I personally say to people when they say something out of line is were you always this tack less or is today my lucky day They simply don't know what to say. Keep up the good work.
