I guess my question is...what is it exactly that you consider rude?  Yes, I've read some rather blunt statements from different ones, and yes, I might have put it differently, but it's a forum board, with many different personalities.   Bipolar doesn't have a thing to do with rudeness...was just commenting that I was bipolar also.  It gneuinely wasn't meant to be rude.  I joke about it alot.  Can it maybe be you're uber sensitive?

There's no "you gals" thing going.  I'm a flippin' preop *****lies on vetrans to point me in the right direction.  Maybe the nice ones work for you.  That's fine.  Personally, I need to be told up front with no sugar coating.  When it comes to my LIFE, I don't want bubbles blown up my butt.  Give me the cold hard truth, and frankly I don't care if it comes out rude or not, as long as it's the facts. That's how a forum works.....you go with what you like, I go with what I like and it all works out in the end.  I'm probably one of the most sensitive people in the world, but I know when to let something roll off my back.  The generalization of all DSer's...or "you gals" as you like to call them, as rude is hogwash.  LIke you said, take what you need, and leave the rest.....it's whatever you want to make of it.

You know and I know what rude is.  You may have the last word what ever you want to say.  Will not get in one upman contest with you.

Here's hoping you get whatever surgery you wish and have very good success with it.  May life treat you kind and may you always have whatever karma you deserve.

Happy week!!!
Wrinkled was not one of the things I wanted to be when I got older.

it's scary that a big old bunch of doctors are so ill informed!

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

Agreed! My PCP at the time had never even HEARD of the DS - and she had previously worked in a bariatric surgeon's office! She had suggested the Lap Band to me, which only made me practically laugh in her face. Her saving grace was that she at least did listen to me about the DS, could tell I was well-versed on the topic, and was supportive of my decision (and even took a copy of a DS diagram for future reference!).

My PCP had never heard of the DS. Now she's got 4 or 5 of us, and she's very good about actually LISTENING when I talk to her about the DS.

On the other hand, I recently had two different specialists look at my diagram of the DS and ask "What did they do THAT for???"

No, Dr Eric Westman.  He's just written "The New Atkins for the New You".  He stood there in the midst of the carrot crunchers and said "Fat is good for you.  No proven scientific link between fat intake and heart disease."

After they recovered from that, he suggested that they should be telling their patients to eat high protein, high fat diets.  Our bodies are not programmed to store carbs, so we burn them for energy first.  When we limit carbs, our bodies burn FAT as they are meant to.

When they picked themselves up from the floor, he reminded them that carbs are an unnecessary food 'group' and he limits his patients to 20g a day. No fruit, limited veg, leafy greens, lotsa meat and 'Put Heavy Cream in your coffee, it's good for you'.

The stuttering Nuts were fun. . .

Especially when he recommended Pork Rinds over potato chips.

Remember this is not a surgeon, not some one with a DS, just  a doc with years of experience who has seen a 'No sugar, no starch' diet result in healthy weight loss and mprovement of comorbidities.
