XPOST: Unplanned Thursday B*TCHFest
For you NEW KIDS, HERE ARE THE RULES:
"B*TCHFest" is provided as a public service to those of us who have gripes and grievances but who (whom?), for whatever reason, lack a regular forum in which to air them. You are welcome to voice any problems - large or small, important, mundane or ridiculous - that currently have your panties wadded, your shorts frosted and your gears ground. Don't hold them in and risk future medical issues, wrinkles and/or those pesky gray hairs.
ANY and ALL issues that are plaguing you are open for you to voice; there are no "sacred cows." They say that "feelings aren't facts", so if you're feeling it, it's legit to you. NO ONE is allowed to flame a poster for something he or she writes, however commiseration is not only welcomed but encouraged. Please, no personal attacks against other OH members (at least, not by name) and ABSOLUTELY NO SURGERY WARS!
I'll start you off with a few gripes of mine, and you all can join in at any time! No limits - come back as many times as you like!
WARNING! Adult content ahead! Posts may (and probably will) contain "adult" content and language. I know that MINE will. Rated TV-MA.
- Raging sore throat this morning from the cold I've had for a week. Only thing I feel like eating is Tasti D Lite (at least it's low-cal) so I haven't gotten any caffeine in me yet. The world needs to proceed with caution.
- Cartilidge ear piercing has been driving me nuts for 6 months. This thing has got to go, but I can't figure out how to undo the hoop. ******!
- Weather guys have been mentioning the "s word" for the past couple of days. WTF?
- Breast cancer "awareness". AIDS "awareness". For God's sake, stop it. We're AWARE of all this **** Just ******g cure it. On a related note . . .
- My governor has declared today "diaper needs awareness day", saying that some families can't afford them. I'm aware that diapers are expensive, and I don't even have kids. How about if you can't afford DIAPERS, should you be having kids????
- How about "Birth Control Awareness Day"?
- HALLOWEEN! Dammit! I'm not spending what little money I have buying candy for someone else's brats **** off.
Okay, that's it for now. More later, perhaps . . .
LMAO !! AT YOU BOTH !!
They are taking away the crap from schools menu and trying to get the kids to eating healthier -
like - why boast about halloween and all the candy and **** that the kids will be enticed to eat when we fight everyday to NOT EAT IT
HOW ABOUT A DAY OF RECOGNITION - FOR OBESITY AWARENESS !!

- Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose. Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email. I'll answer it as soon as possible.
- Total Lost: 139 lbs

The diaper thing always annoys me too, I never got a free anything for my son, nor would I have taken it if offered, I would have felt that I didn't need it leave it for someone who did. The exact same way I feel about seeing people use the handicapped sticker in their car to get a better parking spot and they have absolutely no health issues but a spouse or someone else does. There used to be a lady at my company who did this, yes she was ancient but she went for long walks each lunch period why on earth did she need to use her husbands handicapped sticker to park. I could never do such a thing, ever, period. I can't tolerate rude people who are inconsiderate and think they own the world. I am utterly miserable today with headaches and general ****ty feeling and I locked myself in my office and avoided all contact with my co-workers because I didn't want to be a ***** to anyone. I know when I feel crappy no need to take it out of the world, sadly most people don't seem to notice when they are being totally unprofessional and screaming and yelling at people, throwing tantrums etc. Feeling like crap irriates me and I am irritating to myself today, but unfortunately I have no escapes so the worst thing I can do is post on this messageboard when I take breaks. Yeahhh.
This is my *****:
Vitamin Water Zero, which I love and which always goes down easy (compared to water which sometimes does and sometimes does not) does not actualy have zero calories. (I think I used to know this but somewhere I forgot.)
I have been drinking this **** like crazy lately because I'm trying to control my blood pressure and drinking a lot of fluid keeps it where I like it (under 120/60). I have also been having carb cravings and unexplained weight gain.
Well, no wonder. I've been putting about 120-200 extra calories into my body that I wasn't aware of and it's ALL SUGAR.
Now, normally I don't actually count calories but the body doesn't regulate liquid carbs too well so I try not to drink stuff like soda, juice, etc. And here I have been drinking "juice" thinking it was "flavored water."
Plus certain forms of sugar case me to have inappropriate carb cravings and apparently Vitamin Water Zero is one of them.
I AM SO PISSED.

Yes, the label says zero calories. But it's a lie. If it has 4 g of carbs, it can't have zero calories because carbs have calories.
Mine says < 1 g of sugar but when you look at the ingredients, the only thing that could be contributing to those carbs is: crystaline fructose and (maybe) "fruit and vegetable juice (color)".
Everything else is a non-calorie sweetener such as stevia and erythritol (which is a sugar alcohol which they also don't put on the label as it having any probably because it's a small amount) or a micronutrient and micronutrients don't have calories. Oh, I supposed "natural flavors" could be contributing a bit to the carbs but most "natural flavors" don't and this is listed pretty far down on label.
So the carbs have to be from the fructose and (maybe) the fruit/veggie juice whch means it's all sugar particularly as the "fruit/vegetable juice (color)" ingredient is even farther down the list than "natural flavors" and so is contributing almost nothing to calorie count.
Speaking of another rant: a lot of these 'enhanced' waters have vitamins in them that are fat-soluable. So do we even get any benefit from them if they are in a liquid with no fat? It probably depends on the exact form of the micronutrient and also what surgery we've had but I bet even the unaltered aren't getting much vitamin d or e from drinking vitamin water.

I "found" this info by doing the math. A "serving" of Vitamin Water Zero has 4 g of carbs according to their label. 4 g of carbs has 16 calories because 1 g of carbs had 4 calories.
However, this is disengenuous because they say a "serving" is only 8 ounces. But a bottle is 20 ounces. Most of us think of a bottle as a serving. But their label says a bottle is 2.5 servings.
2.5 X 16 calories = 40 calories.
If they told the truth and said a serving was a whole bottle, they'd have to say it had 40 calories.
However, I just went to the FDA's web site and it say that you can only say something has zero calories if it has 5 or less calories, not 25. (I stilll think this is stupid but at least it makes more sense than saying something with 25 calories has 0 calories.
But 4 g of carbs does not have 5 or less calories so something is off here. I don't know how Vitamin Water Zero is getting away with saying it has zero calories even with the serving size of 8 ounces. I think they are in violation of the FDA regulations. Either that or there is some exception they are using. (The food labeling rules are full of exceptions.)
Also, at least one flavor of Vitamin Water Zero only have 2g of carbs which is only 8 calories. It's still more than 5 calories but at least the bottle only has 20 calories and not 40.
