Umass Worcester, MA wait period?

Hello,

Was wondering if anyone knew about the weight period from the first time you meet the surgeon until the day of surgery.. I know all the waits are different, but if anyone knows if it's weeks or months.. that would be great.

I start the skills classes on the 25th.... then have one meeting with the nutrionist, then meet with the surgeon! I can't wait!! 

Some insurance requires a 6 month supervised diet, then they may require you to lose weight first. It took me about 6 months to get the surgery.

Yes, I have Masshealth. Since I started my WLS journey in early September, I have lost 6 pounds.  They didn't say anything about a waiting period.

I also have Mass Health. If you started going to the weight clinic in September thats when the 6 month supervised diet started. They did tell me a few times i would have surgery around January then they said April and I finally got it in May. It was frustrating waiting but once you get it you will see why its important to prepare. I am excited for you. Hope they give you a date sooner than later.

Thanks so much!  Who was your surgeon? Did you go to any of the support groups?

I had Dr. Michael Jiser in Lowell. I was required to attend 3 support groups before surgery.

Oh I am going to Umass.. We are not required to attend the support groups but I am going to one on the 20th. I think it will be very benificial

Yea the more you know beforehand the better, but of course the only real way to fully understand is going through it.

I had surgery at Umass and it took one year from the informational session to the surgery. They said the usual time frame is six months. I had Dr Perigini.
