I usually give out the packages of Planters peanuts, but I think this year it will be almonds. That way whatever is leftover will be perfect to take with my lunches.

That's a good idea, and I hope you don't mind if I "steal" it from you! ;)

I order a grab bag of small toys from Oriental Trading (about $15) and hand those out.  They aren't considered cheap so the kids don't get pissed (like with raisins) and I don't have to worry about snacking.

I am  going to hand out candy and toys.   I make little bags up for all of the kids.   Because that is what my mother always did.   Some kids dont like chocolate.  Some dont like hard candy, some have allergies to nuts.   So I always get a few of the big bags of candy that have a mixture in them and put one of each thing in each bag.   I also went to the dollar store and got some straws with skeletons on them... some erasers... some plastic creepy crawly things..... some pencils.... etc.    I am good enough that if I dont open the bag, I wont eat the candy because I know it has a purpose.   Now if the bag is open, I have a little more difficult of a time, so I have to hide it from my thin hubby.   But the day before Halloween, I make up the bags and put a twist tie on it so there is no sneaking a peice here and there.   I think this is what is in the bag this year.....

Pencil, straw, eraser, plastic bug, playdoh, stickers, Kit Kat, skittles, reeses, gum, Tootsie Pop, Tootsie Roll, Sweet Tart, Smarties,  and Misc Willy Wonka candy ( dont remember what was in the package).

Now the excess I normally bring in and put in the kitchen at work and people pick at it.  If it is not on my desk, I am usually pretty good.  I might steal a peice or two here or there, but since everyone would see me do it, I am usually pretty good.  My big problem is eating in secret.

This year, however, I dont know how much of it I will have left.   We are having an adult Halloween party that is going to include games and stuff.   One of these is a game called "Test Your Fate" that involves drinking an adult beverage of my choosing.  I go through my bartenders handbook to pick the drinks and I will find Halloween sounding ones like Zombies and Brain Hemmorage.... etc.   I think the excess I will put in black drinking glasses and wrap them up festively to use as prizes for those games.

We have ALWAYS done Halloween up big at my house.  We put up a graveyard.... and animatronics and stuff every year.   I have almost as much Halloween stuff as I do Christmas stuff.

I spend a lot on candy each year, but our house is usually a big hit. My parents usually do it, but since they are aging and I just bought a house this year... this is going to be my first year to do it.  I think the kids in my parents neighborhood are going to be very dissapointed this year.

We dont hand out the healthy stuff because I have heard a LOT of horror stories about peoples houses getting vandalized when they did that.  None the less... I would not doubt the kids would pass up a healthy snack rather than candy.    I dont want to spend the money if it is just going to go to waste.
