There is no Privacy Online. Deal With It.
I don't know, EN. Granted you have encountered more than your fair share of borderline personalities in your life, I just don't feel the need for such strict attention to privacy that doesn't involved finances.
I've had only a couple of rl stalkers and I put them down swiftly enough. It just doesn't concern me.
I don't give a crap about my photos. If I cringe, it is because someone tags an unflattering photo. But, sheesh, I don't always look fabulous. Who does?
But, yes, the moral of the story is: if you want it private, DO NOT put it on the internet.

I suppose we all get so numb to "airing" ourselves out so to speak. On facebook we let our friends see where we are, where we are going and all the snippets of pictures on our adventures... Thank you for this reminder. I would not even share with FB all the personal stuff I would share here on this subject. SO yes, we should care at least a little about "being annonymous....

Really, I don't care about it.
I protect my financial transactions obsessively.
But, my life wouldn't be ruined if someone hacked my OH and FB accounts.

This would pretty much explain why I have little sympathy for someone who gets angered when their posting history is brought up (mentioning personal or professional info in specific ways, not to mention glaring story inconsistencies that reveal lies and mental disorders), their OH/FB photos discussed/altered in a not-so-positive-light, or when they realize there's a stalker on their trail. Anything you put on the web is fair game, people will read your history and take notes, and any site you post them on has permission to use that info or content as they see fit (standard with most terms of service agreements).
This is also why I haven't been motivated to post any before/afters of myself. Should I do so, my face and any identifying location information in the pic will be digitally obscured. I'm a bit confused why others don't do the same- you don't need to show your face to illustrate the success of your weight loss. I would never put any information on a public forum that would allow anyone to ID me in a crowd; where I live I get my fill of bat**** crazy on a daily basis- why open the door for a cyberstalker too?
It's one thing to post an update from time to time. But it's different when some feel the need to show off, fish for compliments and AW (unless we're talking about food porn I'm just not into that) and incidentally leave info where they can easily be identified- I think the worst is taking a picture in front of your house with the number on it.
I'm confused about why anyone would want their face on here along with their location, where people are sometimes known take so many things the wrong way and hold a grudge that can cross over into real life? If someone here doesn't like you spots you getting out of your car at the shopping mall they know exactly who's tires to slash.
