I see some really great suggestions already but I just wanted to add be careful with using certain soaps and cleaning to often thus causing your skin to dry out leaving it open to hoist of stuff to occurr under your belly.  Hope it is all well and better before your doctors appt.

Hydrogen Peroxide might be better for the wound cleansing than the Dial soap.  Check with your doc.

Hope you feel better soon.

If you've never been tested for diabetes, do so.
Fungal rashes are one of the complications of it.

I was hospitalized once for a rash that was just way to bad to get under control on my own. They ended up giving meds along with cleaning it down with a vinegar water mix 3 times a day, and placing clean gauze on it to help keep it dry after using a blow dryer to dry it all off. Now I just use those steps at home when I get the first sign of any rash and it clears up fast

Google: INTERTRIGO

Do NOT feed it anything with cornstarch...soothing powders may soothe, but if they have cornstarch in them, they are feeding the yeast.

You can clean everything and someone I know swears by her husband's white cotton tube socks placed in the area to keep skin from touching skin.

Any antifungal should improve the situation, whether for jock itch or athlete's foot.  It's all pretty much the same.

Intertrigo

Printer-friendly versionEmail this page to a friendShare

Intertrigo is inflammation that tends to occur in warm, moist areas of the body where two skin surfaces rub or press against each other. Such areas are called "skin folds."

Causes

Intertrigo affects the top layers of skin. It is caused by moisture, bacteria, yeast, or fungus in the folds of the skin. The affected areas of skin are usually pink to brown. If the skin is very moist, it may begin to break down. In severe cases, there may be a bad odor.

The condition is most common in persons who are obese. It may also be seen in people who must stay in bed or who wear medical devices such as artificial limbs, splints, and braces. These devices may trap moisture against the skin.

Intertrigo is common in warm, moist climates.

Home Care

Losing weight and keeping the body moving can often help. Keeping areas of folded skin open with dry towels or blowing a fan across moist areas can also help. Wear loose clothing.
