Cold Before Surgery

Just called my surgeon's office to let them know I have a cold, to make sure I could still go ahead with surgery on Thursday.  They basically said as long as I don't have trouble breathing and don't have a fever it should be okay.  I went to Patient First on Saturday because it started as just a really bad sore throat and I thought it was strep. The doctor there gave me this stuff to gargle with and my throat starting feeling better.    Sunday it turn into just a cold, running nose, snezzing, congestion........now I'm taking Tussinex (Liquid Hydrocodone/Chlorpheniram) and Vicks Dayquill/ Nightquill. Has anyone had the surgery cancelled because of a cold?  This is really stressing me out!!

My allergies were flaired up when I went in for my surgery.  It was my understanding that as long as I didn't have a fever it was okay!

When I had my surgery, I got a cold the weekend before.  I was full of snot and whatnot.  I was stressed and concerned - they told me that I could have the surgery as long as the anesthesia could be done and there was not a fever.  Turns out that the need to blow my nose helped me pass a lot of the gas (the pressure from blowing made me pass gas) and made my recovery actually a little more comfortable.  :-)  If they say you can't have it, you must be really sick and need to not risk it.  I hope that it doesn't come to that.
