Small Long-Term VSG Study: not so good

I think the study is interesting. For me it means that for some people the VSG could be enough long term. Which is good to hear, since I know some great people who made that decision. Also, it is sort of doing half of the DS and a person could go on to the malabsorptive part of the DS is the VSG isn't working completely for them.
It seems like this small study did have a high percentage of revisions--I hope they got the rest of the DS.

Thanks for the info.  I am trying to decide what revision to get.  Although I got a little too excited at the title of this study.  A factor of only 13 patients being utilized in this study, its really not an accurate display of realistic results.  I think people need to educate themselves before making such a decision, on how to read studies like this one.  It can be deceptive to people that just see the reults section and dont see that it is based off of such a small study, although one of the only available ones!

It's going to be a while before we start seeing bigger studies, as we only have around ten years of information thus far. I'm looking forward to seeing how the information comes in.

It is indeed VERY important to learn basics of how to read and interpret this kind of material. You don't have to take a statistics class to do so, either :-).  I doubt Diana had any intention of claiming this was anything remotely resembling a big hunk of information. It's just one of the first of its kind that's showed up at all.
