OT: I'm conservative, old and a Christian, BUT I don't understand
My kids are 15 and 13, and they know all about Chaz along with about a hundred other similar issues going on around us. This is old news to them. We don't agree with his decision (to change genders, not to dance), but who cares if he dances on DWTS? I personally welcome the interaction this opens up with my kids. What I find frustrating is that this lady gives conservative Christians a bad rap.
If your kids aren't old enough to have this discussion, then they probably shouldn't be watching the show anyway (see first paragraph). In the meantime, we will be watching with great interest.

"How about some of the young teens who have been on the show dressed up to look 10 years older?"
I never watched the show and didn't know this was an issue.

I'm in total agreement. The parent should turn off the TV if they disapprove of the programming.

I used to be morbidly obese. I had surgery and now I'm not.
GREAT comparison! Speaking of surgery, here's something someone send me just yesterday, that seems oddly appropriate to this discussion:
Can you really tell the difference between a natural-born girl and a transgender? Really? Are you absolutely sure? Take this test to find out.
A friend forwarded this to me, and I thought it is something worth sharing. I’d love to see how you you score on this test. It certainly had me baffled.
In each of the following photos, try to guess which person is a natural-born girl and which is transgender. There are 6 pairs. Look closely, then pick left or right to identify the transgender person. These photos were originally from Missladyboys.com.

All of them are transgender!
Were you "fooled"?
Now, how about that?
Okay, so if you can't tell the difference, what makes people think that transgender people should be treated any differently to anybody else? What makes them think that a transgender woman isn't a woman? Can you say? I can't - and obviously neither could you.
I am on the younger, liberal side of things and I am a lesbian and I am so happy to read that people support Chaz Bono. He is just trying to live his life and be happy like the rest of us.
The show has a sexual nature to it. If a parent doesn't want their kids to see it then that parent needs to take responsibility and turn off the t.v., switch it to a different channel or send their young ones to bed!
I am waiting for the day when someone like Carson Kresley (who's whole celebrity persona is based on being gay) is allowed to dance with the partner of his choice.
Thank you all for not judging Chaz. I personally think he's going to be a lot of fun to watch -- not because he is trans but because it's great to see a person of size get out there on the dance floor and shake it!
Live and let live!
