Has anyone heard of (OAC) Obesity Action Coalition? It looks as though my surgeon signed me up to receive “OAC" and “Your Weight Matters" magazine for a full year. How sweet, now I know why I liked him the first time I met him.

The OAC is OUR voice in Washington. They are the political action committee for those dealing with weight issues -- whether it is weight discrimination, childhood obesity (including the abhorrant campaigns in Georgia), pushing for universal coverage for surgical intervention, as well as additional treatment options (medications, for example), training for physicians when it comes to sensitivity, etc.

There are precious few non-profits out there for OUR community.

Of those that are out there, only the OAC has the ability to get things done in a professional manner, can work with patients, doctors, and politicians alike, and truly cares about the community.

When it came time to settle on a charity for a portion of my book proceeds, it was a no-brainer. And it's why the Bariatric Bad Girls support the OAC exclusively as a group. They are good people (and I rarely say that about anyone).
