My recipe calls for 2 c.flour
                             1t.baking soda
                             1/2 c.butter
                             3/4 c. brown sugar
                             2 eggs

I am going to use something non fatting in replace of the butter, must be something i can use to make this recipe and still be delicious as this one. I dont mind if its not as moist. Has anyone alternated the butter in this recipe before and had good results with the same taste? thinking i could use either oil or applesause, I have used applesause in replace of oil when making cakes but not sure of Banana Bread...really trying to cut way back on fat grams, thanks for your help on this ..Peace Wendy

Applesauce would be fine in banana bread.

i agree...applesuace will be fine.  What are you doing for the sugar and flour...or does that stuff not bother you?
