Yeah, Dragon can be a pain, but people all over the world (with accents) use it too. The PC version is better than the Mac. You have to "train" it so it gets your accent and speech patterns.

People assume I profile serial murderers... nope. I treat and also conduct/write lengthy evals that are used in court. Since I also have a creative background, the med-legal techie writing part can get tedious. Some of these reports are 40+ pages long.

Sometimes, completing one is like giving birth (akin to pushing a grand piano through a transom).

I'd check out Dragon, but I use a Mac. Plus I have a weird confluence of accents that changes depending on my mood, who I've been recently speaking with, and how tired I am.

So, you provide evaluations that help determine whether or not someone is psychologically competent to stand trial? It sounded fascinating until I read that some of the reports are 40+ pages long. Is that due to evidentiary requirements?

What kind of writing do you do when you are being creative?

I own a Mac and a PC. Dragon for Mac is adequate. Even if your mood changes, you get tired, or speak differently at times, it will pick most of those nuances up. Funny, the co. manufacturing Dragon is called Nuance...

No, I don't do psych competence evals. I'll give you an example. If a cop gets shot and then claims she's traumatized, I conduct an exam including psych testing and a history from birth to present (that's why they're so friggin' long). If I get an older pt, the exam can take 2 days (more living to cover). The defense counsel may try to blame the cop's distress partially or totally on past problems in her background. I also am like a detective and have to opine if I think the pt is malingering or exagerating. I review piles of med records, surveillance videos, etc. Very complex... I see people from all walks of life. Some cases are high profile with national media hounding the pts. I stay in the background.

It still sounds very interesting, the deep insider perspective of all those stories.

Hun you go ahead and start your blog! Most people are not rude like the poster. Most if they are interested, will read it. If they are not, they just don't. I don't know what the posters real problem is?

I don't read all the WLS blogs out there, but there are a lot I do read. I have learned a lot by reading others blogs and made friends with many of the bloggers.

Everyone has something to add. And everyone has a different perspective on things. So start your blog and share your perspective! :-)

Go ahead, start a blog---but write it for YOURSELF, and don't ask other people to read it. Kel's NOT against anyone writing a blog, but we've had a rash of people coming here just to ask people to read their blogs. (You can make money with a blog, you know.)

And Kel DOES care, but not to the point of wanting to know what you ate for dinner last night and what your poop looks like---things some people include in their blogs, which is why I rarely read any, anymore.

There are blogs devoted to what poop looks like?   I might be interested in that...  :)

Damn, where DID I put that link? (*grin*)

It's not a blog, but there is a whole website devoted to poop stories. I'll see if I can't find it again.

Oh I can google it, but I'm a little afraid of what I might find!   More than a little afraid...of course this will be the first thing when I get home because that's how I roll.
