Hello Long time P O's ..I am starting my research on Underarm plastic surgery. I am over 4 years P.O. I have very bad bat wings. I am 54 yrs young. I have lost 110 lbs of the 125lbs needed to be at my normal BMI, last i checked my current BMI is 25 . started at 40 BMI.. I'd like to get some views from this supportive website.. Do most P S surgeons require you lose all your weight needed to do underarm plastic surgery? My arms still have alot of "fat" if you will underneath..

I am very proud of myself , I have maintained for over 4 yrs. actually in the last 12 months i have dropped 20 lbs. I never made it to my first goal, I am just a few more lbs to complete goal, will a Plastic surgeon do underarm plastic surgery  at my point? I am still in progress in working on loosing another 10 lbs so i can call myself done with my weight loss.I am so ready to let go of my underarm fat, Heck thats probably 10 lbs of fat in them arms..thanks for your precious time, Peace Wendy

Hey Wendy -

I was about 15 pounds above my goal weight when I started to get consultations for my brachioplasty.  I was about 8 pounds above my goal weight when I had the surgery.

I interviewed 3 surgeons and chose my favorite (he was not the least expensive, but has great follow up).  The Brachioplasty was priced at 4,500.00 -- that included out-patient surgery at a full Surgical Center -- full nursing staff and ansethesia all included in the price.

I have 1 year of follow up -- with appts the day after surgery and then at 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and then again at 1 year.

I also had a breast lift at the same time (so my total cost was about 9,000).  My surgery time was about 4 hours and I lost about 3 pounds from the procedure.

The surgeon and I agreed that I was not going to lose any more weight in the arms or breast area -- and so having surgery while I still was 10 pounds above my goal weight was not an issue.

I will say that since the plastic surgery, people think that I have lost 20 pounds or more --- in fact I have lost about 10 -- but the smaller arms and breast lift make my frame look so much smaller.
I can now wear clothes that fit my frame instead of having to buy bigger to accommodate my arms.

I am so grateful that I was able to have the plastic surgery ---- best of luck to you!
Kath

There's a plastics forum here you should check out. I doubt a surgeon would not operate bec you are 15 from goal. Not everyone is at goal. He may suggest to eat high protein before surgery to help healing and you may lose a couple lbs bc of that. Good luck.
