I said I'd never get plastic surgery. Money is the main factor..Simply cannot afford it.

I am now experiencing Depression looking at my bat wings...I am wondering if Medicaid would cover plastic surgery If i documented how my bat wings are causing me Depression.. Does anyone  have any knowledge on this issue? Thanks for your time, Peace       Wendy

Not sure but truly seriously doubts that they will care that you are depressed about the extra skin.   Most insurance co.s will NOT cover PS unless they deem it medically necessary.    Good luck anyway.   WHo knows....you may be a lucky one.

Generally, insurance would just send you to a shrink for the depression.  USUALLY, the only time they cover plastics is to cover functional problems.  There are exceptions, but those are likley a state-by-state thing.

Consider out-of-country options.

I seriously doubt it, the same argument could be said for deflated boobs or your stomach or thighs or whatever and I doubt they are going to pay based on depression.  That said I had my surgery at a teaching hospital, it only cost 3.5k, there are medical loan companies also that can help, I took money out of my 401k to get it done.  If there is a will there is as way is my motto.

i say you can do anything u put ur mind to

if ur doctor finds it a medical necessity than yes theres a chance medicaid will cover it...

therefore, anything like maybe a rash under your arm, or the excess skin weighin you down and etc... [hint hint- start complaining to ur doctor, so he can have it noted]

Where theres a will theres a way, as for me, i wouldnt take no for an answer, id try until i couldnt no more... worth a try

good luck, i know how depressing it can be... im out of luck, no insurance :(  but hey its temporary, and i rather be this way then 406 pounds anyday... and ive managed to work with fashionable 3/4 sleeve jackets... in the summer it sucks, but ive stopped caring.... i let em hang.... sometimes ;]

what are we so worried about? what other people will say??? thats what stopped me from enjoying life when i was obese, im not going to let them stop me now that im not, just because of saggy arms, thighs, stomache and etc lol

Love yourself for you. And everyone else who truly loves u will do the same... xoxoxo

good luck

Insurance will help you treat the depression (meds, counseling, etc.). If I were depressed because I am not a millionaire, insurance would cover meds and counseling, not give me a million dollars.

You want to talk about depressing? Let's look at my panni/apron that hangs down to my thighs, the roll of skin above my belly button that hangs down so you can't even see my belly button when I stand up, the batwings that prevent me from wearing many short-sleeved shirts because they dig into the skin, my barely-above-an-A-cup sad excuses for breasts, the completely non-symmetrical rolls and lumps on my back and sides of my abdomen, and the sagging skin on the upper inner thighs that very much resembles a couple of shar pei dogs. Oh, and I never reached my weight loss goal. AND I'm still only in my 20s!
