Iron Infusions???
make sure you're getting your Vitamin C with your iron for better absorbtion. Don' t know about prenatal vites-are they for our differnt plumbing and rerouting? My doc recommends Vitron C - vitamin C is already added, works well with those with really low iron and no side effects like regular iron supplements give. My iron was 8 or 9 at one point and I didn't have infusions but used the Vitron C till my levels came up to acceptable levels. I know a few post ops who have had infusions and it's not a big deal, takes a bit of time to have the procedure but most felt better right away. Your doc can help with your questions and let you know other options.

At the risk of sounding like a suck up, I like to follow your posts because a newbie like me gets a lot of good information from them. e.g. I am now adding Vitron C to my list in case I need iron later.
I printed out one of yours to put in my binder where you talk about what you and your friends did to remain successful all these years out. I think that will be helpful to me on days when I feel a bit overwhelmed..

Find out what your numbers are. Did they run your ferritin also?
Two prenatal vitamins is NOT enough. You may need infusions if you are that low. I had 5 infusions in July. I was amazed at how much better I felt within 48 hours. I'm taking 2 Proferritin a day and 2 Tender Iron per day with labs to be retested in September.
My doc ordered the venefor IV push, I was in and out within 15 minutes.

Hi Amanda,
I just wanted to say I think UTI and low iron are common, I started having them in March, after yrs of not having one. They kept coming back. I felt awful tired, went to walk in clinic for treatment, had my iron checked it was low, my ferrin was 7 and hgb was 9.5 . I had had Iron infusion in 1998, 2000. I dreaded the thought of it again. But it was not bad at all. I only needed one so far.
I had a 6hr infusion July 23 and felt like staying in bed for few days but other wise okay.
I am up to 12 hgb and not sure what my iron stores are yet. I am hoping that will keep the uti away.
Good luck
