help please!!!
So I'm trying to work out and eat healthy starting now, but my problem is i cant stay awake. I been going to bed early, and resting and i wake up in the morning exhausted. I can barely stay awake at work. Does anyone know of a supplement that really works for energy? I've tried the sub lingual b12 and no luck.

You're preop, right?

Get yourself to the doc ASAP and get a sleep study done. This sounds a lot like undiagnosed/untreated sleep apnea.

thanks guys , I kinda figured that was it. Unfortunately all my diagnostic test have to be done within 30 days of my surgery, and being that im just starting the 90 program il probably have to wait on the study. Any suggestions till then?

Sleep apnea is its very own LIFETHREATENING MEDICAL CONDITION and you need to get tested RIGHT NOW. Go to my profile and read my blog post on sleep apnea. GO NOW. Pick up the phone and make an appointment RIGHT NOW.

You are falling asleep uncontrollably (assuming it's because of sleep apnea, that is) because you are not only chronically sleep deprived, but because you are chronically oxygen deprived. Every time you doze off, you lose more brain cells and run more risk of a possibly fatal stroke.

Have I scared you yet? You should be. Go read that blog post NOW. And if you aren't scared after that, well.....

Okay. Please let us know how you do with getting an appointment and getting in for a study.

If this is NOT sleep apnea, it's fine to know this now. If it is, you'll get on a CPAP and hopefully be able to get off it after surgery. Most people do, but by no means all. I did not expect my sleep apnea to resolve completely as both my parents had it (undiagnosed of course) and were of normal weight. It's a LOT better than it was, though.

As I say in that post, I know what it's like to be basically insane from sleep deprivation, and chances are the apnea and sleep deprivation contributed to the severity of my diabetes, weight gain, chronic pain and other issues. It's a very underdiagnosed condition. Americans tend to not take sleep seriously, to their detriment.

About 15 years ago, I was falling asleep a lot during the day. I'm home all the time, and I could not account for a lot of time frames during the day. I had a sleep study, and I needed a CPAP.  First night of usage, I slept 11 hours straght. I never sleep more than 6-7 hours normally.  Sublingual B12 won't really help you sleep.  Melatonin or Trytophan are helpful, but you take them just before bedtime, no tv, no radio, just quiet so you can sleep. If you're faling asleep at work, you could also fall asleep driving on the way home.  From speaking to a lot of post ops at support groups, I'd say around half of them have used a CPAP or BIPAP machine for breathing while sleeping.  Make the call  for a study.  I was on a CPAP machine when I began my journey for my RNY. I didn't have a CPAP study, as I was already on one daily. DAVE
