Just had random scary thought about my breasts

I had huge boobs because I was fat.  Now I have pancake, gooey boobs that barely fill the foam cups of the VS bras I wear.  I have no more cleavage.  I can't even wear a push up bra because they will pour out the top.....I have to do full coverage.

However, I'm healthy, happy and fit.  When I go running, I only need to wear a sports top with the built in shelf bra.  No more overly tight sports bras!!

I don't have plans for plastics; I will just keep going to VS to get my "boob" look!

I'm in the same camp as you, I loved my breasts.  They were an integral part of the look of me, a major part of my sexuality.
Then when I was a couple of years post-menopausal they changed, a lot.  I came to love those new breasts too.  Completely different, but a change can be good.

Post-weight loss, well, I'm not so thrilled with the look of my breasts.  But, they are now light weight, easier to fit into bras and clothes.  They could be a new party game - how many shapes can you fold them into?  What config in the bras looks the best?  Ha ha.  OK, not so funny but here's the honest truth at the end of the day...

I would _not_ take back the weight and health issues for the most beautiful breasts in the world.

and remember, when you are the naked woman in the room, your breasts are beautiful    :)

Thanks Tammy for the candid humor. I am laughing and crying at the same time.

Yeah...my boobs are gone.  Flat tube socks with golf balls on the ends.   BUT...I'm getting ready to buy some new ones.  These new ones will be made to custom fit my new much smaller frame.     :-)

It depends on your age, hormone status, genes and lots of stuff. If the girls are nice and dense and perky now, chances are you'll get somewhat less deflation than many of us have experienced, especially if you're still young and you have pretty normal periods and other indications of how your reproductive system is working.

As we get older, breast tissue gets less dense, so the proportion of fat to other stuff increases. I had a total hysterectomy at age 40 and could not use any hormone replacement therapy for medical reasons. The girls totally changed character to fat sacks. So when I lost the weight, I wound up with empty tube socks with a pebble in the bottom.

I also inherited the tendency for boob sag. It's like the support structures at the top were weak from day one and stretched out (in a couple cases tore--OWIE) starting when I was pretty young. So I have NEVER been a braless hussy :-).

You can have some optimism, from the way it sounds, that you won't meet the same fate. They'll be different, but hard telling how much.

Remember, though, that you are dying of a disease, morbid obesity. Compared to that, boobs are nothing. They can be bought and made to your specifications, after all :-).

Elizabeth,

The math perspective is a good way to think of them. Ibetter start saving my "sista savings" immediately.

Yup that's a good plan! If you think you're going to want reconstructive surgery and that you'll have to pay cash for it, look up a group here on OH for patients of a Dr. Sauceda. (Look in the "groups" section, which you'll find in the dropdown menu under "community.") He has a terrific reputation and people are pleased with his prices. I believe he's in Mexico, but he's one of the GOOD Mexico surgeons. He comes to various locations in the US occasionally to meet in person, but he does the lion's share of his consultations via email.

well....lets see, i went from a 46DD to 38DD and with the girls went 140 pounds, so for me it was an even trade, i liked mine also but i like being healthy better, also tossing an entire (including bras and draws) wardrobe puts everything in perspective, yep it will take some getting used to but you will feel great and will not want to go back to the bigger size (unless you are lucky enough to buy some), good luck with your surgery...

I think it's common to pick something to obess about as surgery approaches as a way to cope with the stress. It's probably better to obsess about your breasts than to go to the Memorial page on OH and freak out over all the people who have died. Doing that REALLY freaks people out.

As for mine, they got smaller but I was okay with that. I was a DD/DDD before and that was a bit big. And I wasn't perky either, not after all the yo-yo dieting and pregnancies. I'm a D cup now and sometimes I'm quite happy with my breasts. I think they look about right for a 50-something mother. But other times, when my body fat percentage is lower, they get a bit deflated and I'm less happy with them.
