LW's need acceptance AS well as surgery!!! We don't head into surgery just to lose weight but because we have co-morbids to make getting the weight off necessary.

I only NEEDED to lose 58 lbs to get to a normal BMI and about 70-75 to be in the nice range of my BMI scale. WLS helped me lose the weight I needed but more than that, I was able to come off insulin. So WLS was my tool to get normal. I could not have done it without it.

I still get told I was too tiny for surgery but my gains (no insulin, minus 50+ lbs) speak volumns.

Don't let them get you down. We each have a reason for being here. LW's as much as anyone else.

Eh, I headed into surgery mostly just to lose weight. I think that's a perfectly legitimate reason. My quality of life improved dramatically and my future health was at stake even if my then health was okay.

Now I was on BP meds but my BP was well-controlled by medicine so didn't count as a co-morbidity according to my insurance company. Plus, it seems it might be hereditary as I still have problems with it when my sodium intake goes up and/or my fluid intake goes down so I may end up back on my meds some day anyway.
