Shaming people does NOT help them lose weight.

MsBatt, when someone looks at another person, decides that they are lacking and then tries to "fix" them, that fits my definition of meddling.

Shame has never been a motivator.  We are cautioned against shaming and other negative talk as we raise kids but shaming their bodies is still ok.

It leads to trashed self esteem and even depression in many obese and over weight people.   Of course out of that comes eating to salve the hurt.

I riped a new one for anyone who tried that **** on my kid.  I don't care who it is.  I don't take that **** myself either.  The focus should be on helping to change one habit at a time.

There are few folks that can do a 180 in any area of life.   Its even more difficult when the harmful behavior cannot be totally eliminated because it is necessay to live.

This resonated with me.  I can remember when I was doing Optifast I was on all liquid for several months and it was SO MUCH EASIER than eating.  I truly didn't want to go back to food.

it's like trying to force a rose to bloom.  It will or it won't and it's time to do so is not chosen by us.  "confronting" somebody about anything rarely works out with calm reflection and decisions to change behavior.  Usually it ends up unfolding like an episode of Jerry Springer.
