I just made a dress like Marti's polka dot one and use a Vogue pattern. There are several options with this pattern so you could create just the look you want. Oh, and it goes together really quickly.

I thought that too but it turns out most of the Vogue patterns are no more complicated than Simplicity and certainly no more complicated than Butterick. Some of the designer patterns have more details but they also have great step by step instructions.
This particular pattern was a breeze. I only lined the top of it and not the bottom. The fabric was so voluminous that it really didn't need to be lined.
Oh, I did want to mention that the pattern seems to run long from shoulder to bust line and midriff to waistline. I noticed in your siggy that you are tall so it should be simple to make any adjustments if you need to. Have fun with it.

Luv, luv, luv your fabric choices especially the pink dots. What I could do with a dose of ambition. The last dress I started was for my DD when she was about eight. I never finished it. Of course its no use to her now as she's finishing grad school.
