Band to DS

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

Dr. Roslin offers a compelling explanation of why people encounter problems after lap band & RNY surgery. Thank you so much for posting the link & transcript. As someone who is seeking a lap band to DS revision, it is especially relevant to my experience. I wish I could send a copy to my insurance company!

You should send that copy to the ins. co.  I printed off facts of lapband stuff and peoples experiences of having revision from lb to bypass and how they're feeling.   That  probably how it helped me get my appeal approved!

Good luck!

246 in Dec 2008 before banded 1/28/09 at 215 lbs, band crapped 9/09 at 170 lbs and struggled with it and regained to 203 revised to bypass on 8/1/11 and am very happy.

Thank you for sharing this, Tom. This is invaluable. Surgery is not one size fits all.

I'm grateful for my revision every day, since it helped me get rid of a lot of problems that had NOTHING to do with compliance.

I got the video to work by switching from "firefox" to "internet explorer."

Thank you so much for sharing. I really connected to the video and to the woman in the video, she sounds like me with that band!

That's odd as I got it to work in Firefox (maybe your settings)

To Tom, thanks for posting the transcript as well as the link. I would also like to copy this to my blog for others to find.

To the TWIT who called Tom a troll...you may not know Tom and what a valuable asset he is to the ENTIRE community. Don't blame the messenger for the message.

Thanks you for posting this. I am dealing with regain and while no one has actually said it is all in my head, I know for me, in part it is. But this article helps me to understand some of the why behind me wanting to eat all the time. Learning everything I can so thats I can become more successful in this journey and hopefully get to goal. Also need as much information as I can get to possibly revise to DS.

THANK YOU, not sure how I missed this last year, but it is now printed and in my files so that when I finally get insurance later this year and approach for revision to sleeve I will be armed.
