Excess skin infections

I know I've read info in the past on this subject, but it's happened to me early on.  I am 7 weeks post-op VSG, have lost 50 pounds so far since pre-surgery fast.

I already having a very annoying, painful skin infection under the folds of my excess tummy skin.

I also know that it would be a long time before I could have skin removal since I am at the beginning stages of my journey; that insurance hates to pay for it, etc.

But does anyone have any suggestions for easing the pain and irritation?   I want to wear good support garments but know that they help keep the moisture in too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lauren

Get to a doctor and get a prescription. You need to document those infections so insurance will pay for skin removal if you decide to do that.

Use a blowdryer to get out the moisture under your folds.  After this infection is cleared up, start using an anti-prespirant under any folds before dressing.  I used to use BAN under my breasts.

Also, do not use any powder that has corn starch in it.

thanks for the suggestions.  Someone told me to try the corn start but I was hesitant.

You were right to hesitate. If it is a fungus... they love corn starch. Tasty treat for them and it just gets worse. I agree with the suggestion that you see your doctor and see if he will give a script for nystatin cream. Works great. You should see a doctor anyways to find out for sure what it is.

I use baby powder everyday and it keeps the rashes and the smell away.

Ask your doctor for Nystatin (or Nystop?) - it works great. They gave it to me after my c-section.
