I'm not hating on this lady.  I swear.  She worked hard and deserves to be proud of her accomplishment.

What rubs me the wrong way is the ATTITUDE of these reporters that anyone who uses a "gimmick" like bariatric surgery is somehow cheating and doesn't deserve to lose weight.

Idiots.

OK.  I'm done.

The constant use of "old fashioned way" was grating for sure.. I do sincerely hope she is one of the 3%* that can succeed without intervention.. They are out there (not met any yet, but there are a few.)

I lost 150lbs the "old fashioned way" myself, and kept the majority of it off for about 5 years.. but I guess I'm just in the normie (97%*) camp that couldn't sustain it, and regained almost all of it.  Granted my life on maintenance was living in the gym and feeling constantly deprived.. not a life that I could live with long-term obviously. I can deal with the exercise as that eventually got to be enjoyable, but the deprivation was a constant issue.

They did get one thing correct, and I may get flamed or not, but doing it her way is the hard way, no doubt about it in my mind.

*edited to add, I have no idea on the actual stats of sustained long term weight loss.. I just know it's very, very low..

I agree! There is no "easy" way no matter how one goes about losing weight! She does deserve to be proud of what she's accomplished! I wish her the best and hope that it continues to work for her!
I'd like for any one of these people who think WLS is the "easy" way to live this life for a day and then try to tell me that I took the easy way out!

I am 7 years out and I absolutely believe that WLS was the easy way out and I'm proud enough to admit to being intelligent enough to chose it ...

Never regretted it a day and didn't find it hard at all ...

Funny, I came on here to post this video lol. I think it's great what she did! 300 lbs in 3 years?! That's amazing! I hope she's able to keep it off and not resort to old ways. However, remember that the more extra weight you carry, the easier it is to get it off at first. I hope she can continue on this path =)

Normally "the old-fashioned way" is bad. You know like using leeches to cure fevers and stuff.

LOL I totally thought you were going to say:

"By divorcing her abusive 300 lb husband".

Thanks!  That was my first thought, but I didn't want anyone to think I'm a man bashing psycho.
