Hi Suzanne, just saw the dietitian today. She said to eat 5-6 times a day ¼ cup to ½ cup. Is this normal, seems like a lot…I just don’t want to risk making the pouch bigger. Thanks for any advice you can offer.Crissie

Hi Crissie,

It seems like a lot to me.  You will know best yourself what you are able to eat--you will feel full--pay attention to that feeling.  This person who is your dietitian, has never had a sleeve, I bet.  I ate very small meals 3 times a day and really small snacks 2 times a day--maybe 5 or 6 almonds for a small snack.

I hope that helps you.

Hugs,
Suzanne

I absolutely love reading your posts, you are such a wealth of information. I go back up to Madigan on Friday to meet with my surgeon and anesthisiologist. Thank you so much for sharing with all of us.

Hey Laurie,

I know that all of this is new and difficult to think about--been there and done it already so believe me I do understand.  I would be worried if you didn't have questions and a whole bag full of emotions going on too.  We all ate because we loved food, or didn't like our life or who we are.  There are a million reasons why everyone become overweight.  Or as I call it "FAT".  That was a word that I danced around and wouldn't say.  Now I can and before I had surgery I could also say it too.  For me I was accepted that I was a mess and needed to do something about it.

I took back the control and NO LONGER allow food to control me.  I am NOW in control of food and that I put into ny body.

So take a deep breath and know that I am just an E-mail or phone call away.  There is NOTHING wrong with saying you are scared and you just want to talk.  Make a list of your question and send them to me.  I am happy to answer them if I can. WE have all had all the same fears and emotions that you are having.

You are becoming a stronger person by doing all the things you can do.  As Dr. Phil says "Don't give away your power."  So keep doing what you are and take it one day at a time.

Hugs,
Suzanne

Hi Suzanne!  I'm 2 years and 5 months out and this is how I did/do things too.  I still have a protein shake every morning for breakfast then have lean meat, veggies, low fat dairy, eggs and and small amounts of fruit for my meals.  I also eat nuts for added calories and good fats I also exercise plenty.  Thanks for the great post!

Hi Laura,

Sounds like we are doing about the same things, and have lost about the same amount of weight.  Congratulations to you too!  Keep up the great work.  Isn't it grand to be thin again and healthy?
