Thanks guys : )  My gall bladder was removed 1 year ago.  So it's most likely not that.  Frustrating.  I was so scared that it was pancreatic because of the location but my labs were ok.  So relieved about that.  I just don't want to deal with anything bad, relate?

Hi Laura....I had right abdominal pain on Dec. 29th last year. It was horrible and doc's offices were closed for holidays. I went to the ER and had the contrast as well....all negative. It is so frustrating because you know something is wrong and it was awful! My primary care doc thinks it's a stone in the bile duct. I have no gall bladder either.

When I got to the ER, my blood pressure was pretty high but I think it was pain. My blood pressure has been fine for two years now. My doctor says after a couple of hours or longer, the stone can move. He said if it gets stuck, they can do something about it. I sure hope they figure this out for you.      Connie

Thanks Connie.  I was worried about bile duct stones.  A friend of mine ended up with pancreatitis (sp?) after she had her gallbladder removed because of sludge in her bile ducts.  My blood pressure was high too. It's just so scary when you don't know what's going on.  Hope they figure it out too.

Hi Thanks for sharing this.  I had my gall bladder out 2 mos after WLS, and since then I will occasionally get pains in my upper right quadrant, right where it hurt when I had the gall bladder attacks. They also seem to occur after meals that are realtively high in fats. They havent been too bad so far, but it never occurred to me that I could still have stones in my bile duct....I will definitely keep this in mind.

Thanks again!

Sounds more like a stone had a duct blocked...they can occur years after removal of the GB...   Keep behind it til you find the problem.                My Mom just had a similar epsisode in Dec...and.Jan.Her scans were negative as well, and she couldn't keep down the contrast, a repeat showed a shadow behind her liver, and further testing revealed a calcicification, next test 3 weeks later was clear....Hers was caused by a hematoma, they did several tests before they found it, and it healed on it's own.
It is possible for an intestine to untwist it'self, but highly unlikely, if it is in a complete twist.  without a NG tube to decompress the intestine.   I have had this unfortunate event to happen twice and the pain is worse than childbirth..both resulted in  five-6 day  vacations with tubes where I did not want them!.   I  did my own sleuthing and  found that the  twisting began after  gastric irritations...so my answer to this has been
.If I begin to feel or look bloated,.... I go to a diet of cold liquids, and use my shakes for protein for a day and use my prevacid 2 times a day for 3 days... that  takes care of the irritation...my whole family has gastric history episodes...and this keeps me out of the hospital.

Very interesting info.  Thanks for sharing sweetpotato1959.  Hope you are able to stay out of the hospital.  Not fun at all.

Hey - after reading what others have said and knowing what you've experienced, it very well could have been a blocked bile duct... that is VERY painful and will land you in the ER needing IV pain relief. (I'm the friend that Laura was talking about)... Nobody can be certain, but if you have the pain again, you should go to the ER or your Dr and ask for a blood test. If I remember correctly, there are certain enzymes that will be elevated if you have a blocked bile duct... I will warn you, though, that if they suggest an ERCP, then you should think long and hard about having it. This was the test that caused my pancreatitis, and that is just HELL. Of course, I seem to be extremely "unlucky" when it comes to odds, so you could be just fine having an ERCP. I definitely recommend following up with your Doctor if it happens again. Hang in there, and let me know how I can help!
Love ya!
Les
Fingers crossed that it won't happen again! Sending luck for good health!

Thanks Les!  Lets just hope it never happens again. The location of the pain does make me wonder if it was blocked duct.  Do you remember where you experienced blocked duct pain?

It is possible to have an obstruction that slides back into place on its own.  It happened to me a couple of months ago and I had to go into the hospital.
