Chef Dave - Standing MB input thread...
GG I'll answer even though I'm not Chef Dave. The recipe book I bought doesn't it's geared more toward RNYers way of eating. Hopefully he'll have some others he can share with the DSers.

Thanks for all the great advice. The deletion was where I posted under the wrong comment. I reposted where the post was intended to go. As you pointed out I replied under the wrong comment last night.
As for the DSer I follow the ASMBS guidelines to the letter. These are posted on the ASMBS web site for all to reveiw. Over the past 10 years since I had my surgery the food guidelInes have change as research has proved to make changes.
Please advise me of any changes you have that I'm missing and I will be glad to make adjustments as long as it is in accordance with the guidelines in which are industry follows.

Apparently posts have a way of showing up randomly, and it seems to also depend on the browser you're using to view them. It's better to edit your post, to say something like "I was replying to X, not Y." That way it doesn't appear that you're retracting your words.
As for my saying I thought you meant your reply to Lithia rather than me---you clicked on the 'reply' button beneath MY post, because *I* got the e-mail notification of the reply.
I haven't read any of your recipes, so I don't know what sort of protein-fat-carb ratios you're shooting for. I just know that most RNY-friendly recipes contain little fat. For me, this quickly leads to constipation. (I suspect that's the case for a lot of RNYers, too, given the high number of posts I see here about constipation in RNYers.)

The "nutritional information" I got at a very young age was "Fat is bad, carbs are good" and I got 200 pounds overweight following that.
Now I have a much better understanding of nutrition in general, of course. But I REFUSE to worry about fat. Fat avoidance MADE me fat. When I have plenty of fat in my diet, I don't have trouble with maintenance, adn I have less troubles in the restroom.
Any recipe that calls for low-fat or no-fat options when full-fat options are available would be one that I would consider suspect. At the very least, it is likely to not meet my needs. Alas, I don't much CARE for foods high in fat, but I certainly care in the bathroom if I eat only non-fat foods.
I figure that if I ever start to truly struggle with regain, CARBS will be more likely to be eliminated than anything else.

good point, Lady L.
I also refuse to worry about fat. as long as it is real food and not some petroleum product ("margarine" for example) I find that fat is satisfying and tastes good.
you get some "low fat" recipe, like as not it's got extra carbs in it. like "low fat" milk = more lactose. makes me sick, literally.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.
PM me if you are interested in either of these.
size 8, life is great
What's margarine? I use butter! Or Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
I looooove me some fat.... just don't like many foods WITH fat in them.
Of course me and food have a bit of an adversarial relationship. Love/Hate you might say.

Hi Chef Dave..
Does this open up the possibility of future recipes or cookbooks specific to surgery types? Are the ASMBS guidelines general for all surgery types, or are there divisions?
