I can't give you a study but I bet if you ask on the DS forum that someone can. It is my understanding that the DS does "cure" Type II Diabetes 90something percent of the time... cure meaning it does not come back.
T2D killed both my normal weight parent's so that was the main reason I chose the DS. I remember the conversation with my surgeon about this issue. My dh could not believe what we were being told. He has friends with severe T2D and wanted to know if they could get the DS to cure their diabetes and the surgeon said they were doing the switch (without the sleeve) in Europe for T2Diabetics who are not obese. Wish they would do it here. Would save lives.

The percentage of RnYers who experience Reactive Hypoglycemia is pretty small. Most don't experience it.

MacMadame is right. Most RNYers even if they can get blood sugar drops can control it by eating protein filled snacks meals. It is good to be aware of it though as it usually hits at about 18 months out, an hour or so after you've eaten or exercised.
you are not screwed (at least not by your surgery!) chin up!

These studies aren't dooming you---they're WARNING you. The more you know about potential complications, the better able you'll be to catch them early, IF you ever have them.
