I had a heptobiliary scan today. It did not go well. Apparently I do not react well to the stuff they push to make the gall bladder do its job and I spent 45 minutes feeling like someone was twisting my guts into knots while trying to feed those knots through my belly button. I don't know how they could have gotten any decent pictures of everything with the way I was shaking so badly. I was told I would "feel some changes" when they pushed the gall bladder stuff through but nothing prepared me for that kind of pain.

I watched the contrast going through the liver and gall bladder and it was really kind of pretty from my vantage point across the room. Then came pain. I cried like a baby. All I can say is after all of that they better figure out what the heck is the deal with the pain I've been in for the last 2 months and I hope to gawd and jeebus and all the angels that I never have to do that again.

Did they try the HIDA scan on you? For me that worked wonderfully except the having to lay still for an hour :(

I had this done pre-op too and it hurt REALLY bad........ and I KNEW it would because for years when I would eat fried, oily foods etc it would hurt just like that and sometimes it jsut hurt for no apparent reason.    They never did anything about it because the tests showed it functioned well and I still have this gall bladder in me now and here we are almost 8 months post op and explorering the idea of removing it :( makes me so sad. I wanted it out WAYYY BACK then when I was already opened up!!!    Best of luck to you!!
