Are protein shakes and protein bars considered to dense protein?

I don't think of them as dense, no.  To me dense protein is flesh-of-beast mostly - chicken, beef, pork.  Fish.  Eggs can be dense as well.  A protein shake or bar stays with me about 90 minutes or less, while dense protein keeps me happy for a good three hours.

Shakes, definitely not---they're a LIQUID. Protein bars ARE dense, but just how much of that really is 'protein' varies from bar to bar. When *I* think of 'dense protein', I think of animal flesh, cheeses, and nuts.

I don't think so. Dense protein is animal protein such as meat or eggs, or tofu, tempeh, seitan, things like that.
