Should I use milk or water when making my protein shakes?

I also needed the extra calories and protein for the first 3 months so I used a milk mixture as prescribed by my surgeon.  It was 8 oz. skim milk with 1/4 of ff powdered milk.  I mixed my protein with that.  Now I can eat more solid protein so I mix my one protein drink a day with water.  It's less calories and carbs as well.

But, I agree with others that it is a matter of preference.  Do what you need to to tolerate the protein and get it down.  I think of it as a daily med and just want to get it in.  No fancy shake recipes to waste my calories on.  I tried all that and couldn't stand them.

I always use n/f milk. Extra protein and calcium are always a good thing.

I have always used skim milk ... I can tell a difference in taste when I use water. The bodybuilder who owns the store where I buy my protein swears by water in his shakes, but I am not trying for 0% bodyfat, lol.

I have no problems with milk, so I use 1% in mine.

For protein shakes - I use coffee and mix 2 scoops of Isopure protein powder with ice and a dash of cinnamon in the magic bullet blender - makes a great cold shake. Can use vanilla or chocolate protein powders
