Weight GAIN? (rant)

So i am being really careful of what I eat and doing as much as I physically can for activity. I'm slow but I get there eventually. Got weighed at the docs this morning and I'm UP 7 pounds. I am supposed to be LOSING 10% of my excess weight and instead I'm gaining. So very not cool. I'm sure it has something to do with the Wellbutrin and trying to quit smoking. Although instead of stuffing my face with junk food I'm living on veggies and protein as much as possible. Did anyone else have this happen pre-op? You are doing everything you can to lose the 10% and instead you gain? Were you able to fix it?

Have you chosen a surgeon yet? Not all surgeons require a 10% weight loss pre-op. (Good thing, too, or I'd have never gotten my DS.)

Are you journaling your foods? Sometimes we can fool ourselves about the number of calories we eat, especially when we've made a change in the kiinds of foods we eat. Quiting smoking/Wellbutrin may be a factor, too.

No i havent chosen my surgeon yet. i go to the informational meeting on the 18th though. However I figured I would get a head start on it just in case it is required. And I am definitely journaling my foods. both here and in a notebook I carry everywhere with me. Im not just journalling my food though I am doing everything I put in my mouth including drinks, vitamins, sweets, and meds.

I am actually eating a lot less calories than I supposedly need according to the food tracker here.

Journaling your foods means recording EVERY DANM BITE that goes in your mouth. You really don't KNWO how mamy calories you're eating if you DON'T journal.

I don't mean to be a *****I just am one. (*grin*)

Since you haven't chosen a surgeon yet, don't focus on losing that magical 10%. Until you DO choose, and do an initial weigh-in, I'm not sure it counts. (Sucks, I know.)

It's great that you're on top of what you're eating. How many calories ARE you eating? Too few can be just as bad as too many, alas. Raw veggies? They can have a HUGE number of carbs---but they're mostly 'complex' carbs, and impact your blood sugar far differently than simple carbs like sugar and flour. (Fruits and veggies DO contain simple sugars BTW.)

Bottom line---DON'T WORRY SO MUCH. In the fullness of time, things WILL be okay. (*grin*)

Its a TOUGH requirement but U CAN do it Kahlana .   I did !   My 6 week preop diet  made me  go into surgery a lot lighter and  so much healthier -  I resolved my diabetes in the hospital  for instance .

Yeah the six weeks SUCKED BIG TIME .  I basically LIVED in chat complaining EVERY SINGLE day ... no every HOUR lol

The wonderful chatters  were amazing that they put up with me ;)

U CAN do it  !!  ((((())))) huge hugs  beautiful lady

Thanks MiniMe... Its just frustrating to count every calorie, watch what I am eating like a hawk, drive my family crazy while I stand in the store reading EVERY label to make sure I'm getting the most nutrition for my money, lol. I just didn't think i would see a 7 pound increase when I stepped on the scale today. And I wish I could say its weight gain from "that time of the month" but I don't have that excuse anymore (dang it! )
And thank you for the lovely compliments. They were VERY Much needed today lol.
