I attended on OH event and Eric spoke about how he came to found OH.  He stated that he never had a weight problem.

I *thought* I remembered that...which would explain why he thinks a long-term, maintained loss of 80% of one's excess weight is "bad".

I heard he had a friend/relative/somebody who had a severe weight problem and EK was very sympathetic/empathetic which Obesity Help was created from when he was in college.

Maybe this is an urban legend.  Who knows?  That is just what I have heard.

That's the thing. He's not very forthcoming.

I have a feeling he's not very "present" on these message boards anymore...but I could be wrong.

I also remember from when I first joined (2001) reading that he never had a weight problem but founded OH from a place of empathy for the morbidly obese people in his life. Again, I could be wrong but those are my recollections...
