14 Month Update with Pics

I thought I would be brave and post a pic for the benefit of pre-ops who don't know about the DS.

I am 14 months out and after a bit of a rocky start I am happy to say that I am healthy, relatively happy and I reached my goal weight at about 11 months.

I can't say that it was easy but I also can't say that it was all that hard, except for the first couple of months.  I take my vitamins like a champ and my labs are stellar.  I eat pretty much what I want and watch the carbs.

My life has changed in that I have much more energy and I am much more active than I was before.  I worked out before my DS and now I can do a lot more than I could 105lbs ago.  I am swimming 20 laps in addition to water aerobics and I also do a little strength training and cardio machines.

Of course everything is not perfect and I still have some old issues, like my obsession with food, and losing the weight hasn't helped me much in the dating department but I remain optimistic.  Overall, it was the best and most important decision I have ever made for myself and my ONLY regret is not having done it sooner.

Here is my mugshot before photo taken right after my surgery which is why I look so thrilled! LOL!!!

you look awesome......

What helped you decide to get the DS vs the other options?

Thanks

I carefully researched all of the WLS options, read everything I could find including the OH boards.  It came down to the long term statistics and how I wanted to live my post-op life,   I wanted to eat more normal meals and did not want to do what I perceive as "dieting" ever again.
Because of the malabsorption, the only thing I watch now is my intake of carbs and that's pretty easy.  I don't count anything.
