Hello,
I have never posted to the main forum but I am reading the forum about band failures so you don't need to post your failure here or tell me your failure story. I am not being ignorant I am reading that forum. The author of that forum didn't want sucess stories, so i am just looking to read both sides.

Those who are happy:
When did you get your band?
How much have you lost?
What complications have you had?

Forgive me for this. I can't help it. I totally have to write this or my guts will explode. I only mean it in good fun, I swear!!!

I had a band. It was a rock band. We lost a drummer and the bass player, but replaced them no problem. We did have some complications. The lead singer was a drunk and no one ever changed the oil in the van, but all in all, we were happy with our band. Rock and roll!!!

So Happy Together
How to keep your band together
(in spite of its members)

Your band has lost it's focus. Members are late for rehearsals; or they don't show up at all. When everyone does show up, the sessions deteriorate into a lot of *****ing, leaving everyone angry and resentful.

I'm a happy bandster!

I had a Realize-C 11cc band placed in April 2010. It was single incision through the bellybutton, pars flaccida with a proximal stitich. I've only productive burped/ slimed once in the entire time I've had it. Right now I have 8cc in my band and am doing fine. I started the journey at 240lbs, got down to 223 before surgery, and am at 182 as of this morning.

Now you might say that's only 40lbs in an entire year since surgery, how are you happy? Thing is, that's 40 more pounds than I've ever lost successfully before, and I'm still consistently losing a half pound to a pound a week :) Two or three pounds a month doesn't look like much on the scale, but it definitely adds up, and I'm in it for the long run.

The band will do nearly none of the work for you if you are an emotional eater, are looking for a way to get around your trigger foods, etc-- I can tolerate every food that I've tried (and I'm an adventurous eater!). An example, I was hoping not to be able to tolerate bread-- nope, goes down fine. Same with everything else. I've also had to learn the difference between 'full', 'hungry' and 'satiated', and that I may never experience full as I knew it before the band.

I've had zero complications so far, but if I did begin to have complications that would warrant a second surgery, I'd probably revise to sleeve gastrectomy. This is only because if I had a band failure, I probably wouldn't want another band!

Hope to hear more happy stories!

Going on 6 years...I was banded 9/30/2005, I still have all original parts.

Starting weight: 326
Starting size: 26
Weight loss first year: 100 pounds
Weight loss 18 month post op: 130 pounds
4th year lost restriction due to total unfill due due to unrelated surgery
Changed surgeons 5th year due to 30  pounds weight gain due to not having proper restriction
Going on 6th year and have subsequently lost that weight
Current size 10/12 and maintaining and happy.....
So far (knock on wood) I have not experienced ANY hospitalization or complications or repeated surgeries with my band.

The only 'bad thing" I've experienced with my band was being filled too tightly and that was quickly resolved with some saline removed.

I am still very happy with my band going on 6 years.

I got my band 6 years ago. The surgery was completely painless, I drove home and slept on my stomach from day one. It took me almost a year to lose the weight.
I never post how much weight I lost. My BMI was around 39. I got smaller than I or the doc thought I would. For me it was about health not about size. However, it is great being this small.
I am now a size 6, sometimes I wear a size 4.
I have not had any complications at all, not one.
I want to add that once you are at good restriction you don't need any more fills.
It has been the easiest weight I have ever lost. For me it is the easy way out. I can eat anything, just less. I only weight myself once a month now. I eat cake and enjoy every bite. I think my metabolism has changed cause I used to gain weight when I looked at a holiday dinner, now I don't. My family doesn't even know I had this done. Not even the ones who live with me. The main reason I like the band is the opening where the food passes through doesn't stretch and the beauty of it is, it can be adjusted. This works for me. The band is not for everyone, but for me it has been wonderful. Best of luck to you.
