The rumor about her having some sort of WLS has been going around a lot lately.  Like others have said if she did and she wants to keep it secret it is fine.  It's her business.  But we can't forget how while she was in the hospital with her mysterious illness she had a lot of her fans saddened and worried she was dying, she cancelled shows etc.. if in fact she only went in to do something about her weight I think it's pretty messed up to have people worried.

But again... I didn't lose sleep over it.

Maybe we're going to see her on the "Biggest Loser" next go-round!  Those people beat the weight off people...one guy lost 100 lb in 7 weeks!

I truly think she misspoke. I think meant to say she wouldn't have gastric bypass because as she said, her "friend turned green." I think she either had a VSG or a DS. My bet would be a DS.
Pretty pretty please, don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f*ckin' perfect.

She looks fantastic, and I imagine she feels great too.  I don't care how she did it, but if she did have a bariatric procedure, she has a better chance of keeping it off.  Good luck to her!

She was on The View yesterday and said that her weight loss WAS as a result of her surgery but that it wasn't bariatric surgery.  So I dunno, but those were her words.

I wonder if it was the DS since it is related to the pancreas and there was so much confusion saying she had pancreatic cancer. She could have also had the wits scared out of her as well and had sugery due to her weight. Sometimes though people do get the surgery once all other diets have failed. I know your health is your private business but this is one that is not easy to hide. Why would suddenly she be so successful. This woman hasn't been thin for as long as I can remember her. At least Oprah was up and down. Aretha has never had a success in weight loss and now suddenly she does! So yeah, I question it, but then again, its her business. I tell anyone, I don't really care who knows. If they don't like it or they disagree, whatever! I don't agree with alot of things either. To each their own I say.

I promise with all of my heart that she has had WLS. I said it before anyone even suspected it. She's a diva. She cancelled 5 months worth of shows due to a mysterious illness? Pssshh... I said it as SOON as she cancelled the shows and took time out of the public eye. SHE HAS HAD WLS. I understand the desire to be private, but as the QUEEN of soul, she lost that privilege a long time ago. I am not sure that I would want to openly confess surgery either, but it is SUPER obvious. Personally, I don't advertise mine. I counted on the DUH factor of it all. I'm just MAGICALLY 100lbs lighter?? Not likely.

Health Information Privacy is Aretha Franklin's right just like anyone else's.  She owes no one explanations.  It's her business.

It amazes me that people think they deserve any kind of response when they ask intrusive personal questions.  If Aretha wants to get the reporters off her back by telling them she lost the weight by smoking crack, I say more power to her.

Long live the Queen of Soul!

No one seems to be pointing out the obvious here. That is a heck of alot more then an 85 pound loss.
