Besides work and school my hobby was always food. I would try a different recipe or different place to eat every night. Now I feel bored and need hobby ideas!!!

I see you are in my old neck of the woods (native Washingtonian....Dr. Lin at GW did my surgery back when Dr. A was still at Columbia Hospital for Women).

Anyway, about hobbies: I love to take pictures and there are so many cool opportunities to do so in the DC metro area. Head to the zoo and photograph the animals; head to the mall and photograph the monuments. Then you can use the photos to do another hobby I enjoy, scrapbooking/cardmaking.

Or are you looking for something more cerebral? There are often talks at the National Geographic offices on varied topics; or you could look for a symphony concert at the Kennedy Center on Sunday afternoons.

Adventurous? Bike the C&O canal; head out to Great Falls for some wonderful hikes.

So much to do there in the DC area....good luck. And if you see my brother (his name is Robie), tell him I said "hi". He's so busy doing nothing these days he hasn't returned my phone calls in three days!!

I have gone back to school full time and I got a Kindle ereader to support my new cross addition to reading (or hobby if you like since it isn't harm full like an addiction would be). I have also begun writing a book (fiction) even though it is a stinker in its present form. And I have two blogs running. None of these things involve food. Believe me there are a lot of things you can try. Being a full time student allows me access to gym classes that I sign up for every semester. Who would have thought a granny like me could play water polo in my water fitness class and play goalie and do it rather well. I have the most fun in gym and I am getting stronger and fitter than I was in my teens and twenties when I was thin and cute. Its just amazing to me.

I've seen a lot of people who take up cooking/trying new recipes after WLS. You can still have that as your hobby - there are tons of WLS-friendly recipe sites out there!

Target Archery. It's fun, you can take out frustrations by putting up pic of people that you don't like, and it burns a lot of calories at the same time.
When push comes to shove....shove hard!

Never regret anything, because at one time it was exactly what you wanted.

I took a wire wrapping class awhile back just for fun and last year started making jewelry. I love it.

It keeps my hands busy. Totally not hungry. I play my favorite music and time flies. I get to be creative and I sell it (keeps my new addiction going lol) and people love it. Makes me happy.

And then 2-3 weeks ago I started a container garden and upside down garden. Seeds everywhere (if 1 is good, 2 is better) So I'm hoping to be swimming in fruits and veggies to trade for eggs and fruits/veggies that I don't grow. I hated working in the heat (In So Cal) but with 40 lbs off it sure is much easier to tolerate the heat and I'm able to move much easier.

Working out is also my new hobby. Spent 50 minutes and went 10 miles on my exercise bike...trying to get ready for some serious bike trail riding.

You'll find your niche - just keep looking :)

Peace
Binda

I have wasted enough of my life worrying about what people think of me.

Funny! I was just at Lowes picking up some plants to do container gardens.. my new hobby (at least 1st new one.) I got cilantro, sweet basil, oregano, flat leaf parsley & 3 diff strawberries.. It smelled like a pizza in the back of the car. I figure when I start eating, those fresh herbs will def taste really nice..

Other hobbies to pursue someday: I want to set up my 55gal fish tank & start making flame work beads.. those both cost $$, so they are being put off for bit.. Until then, working with dirt is fine with me.

There have been some really good ones already mentioned.  Your life will be as full and complete as you choose to make it....there are many good things you can do to fill your life....and use  any  time that is heavy on your hands...
I crochet , and do some plastic canvass work,  We garden,  live in the country..and it is just too soon to put out  plants but I currently have 60+ tomato plants in my living room that will be ready to put out soon.  and 6 huge pepper plants in a five gallon bucket converted to a planter...they have given me peppers all winter with the help of a sunlight.
I do yard work, I mow three yards currently, besides my own....and we are planning a large garden. I also teach Bible school and work a part time job....2 days a week      My hubby and I have been married 4 years and between us we have two children and now two grandchildren.   Even in the city you can choose to have plants in pots in a window or on a patio.sweetpotato
