First day of Pre-Op Slim Fast Diet....YUK.
The slim fast cans get old pretty quick. Use a blender and skim milk and whatever protein powder works for you instead.
Other tricks: Add ice cubes to the blender to thicken it up.
Here is the "triple x method"

You will need to drink protein shakes after your surgery, too.
When I finally was able to eat normal foods after surgery, I didn't want to look at any more protein shakes. But after a few months of not having any, I can now use them as needed. usually for breakfast.
The 2 week pre-op diet is tough. Drink lots of water. Again, you will need to drink lots of water after surgery, so may as well start now. Don't sit around and watch TV, do something. Anything.
Good luck, you can do it. It's only 2 weeks.

Every Dr. is surly differnt. I was told never to use Slim Fast, it's hard on the lining of the stomach and Special K has too much sugar. Choc- flav EAS at wal-mart is not to bad add some decaf instant coffee for a kick and the no sugar added carnation instant breakfast and of course UnJury I like the chicken flav. Yes u can!
If you check out my blog (see link above the ticker in my signature area) I have quite a few delicious shake recipes on a stand alone page titled "Khrysti's Favorite Shake Recipes" (you can find the link right under my "current" pic on the right hand side of the screen on my blog).
My protein drink advice is:
1 -- Find a Protein Powder that you not only tolerate, but LOVE
(SEI Pharmaceuticals Ultimate Protein is that powder for me)
2 -- Get yourself some Torani Sugar-Free Coffee Flavoring Syrup
(I have about 30 different flavors for variety)
3 -- NEVER drink premixed stuff if you can avoid it
As for easy under 400 cal meals . . . easy peasy once you give up the carbs! My meals are around 200 calories apiece currently.
Protein Rich Foods
:
Chicken
Non Fried Fish
Sashimi
Canned Tuna
Homemade Split Pea Soup
Deli Meats
Then Add Veggies for bulk
Broccoli
Salad (With Fat-Free Low Cal Dressing or my favorite way -- with just salt & pepper)
Asparagus
Cauliflower
(just NOT Corn)
You'll do great -- congrats on your journey!

I would suggest Body Fortress Whey Protein powder.
The vanilla is pretty good and versatile. I did not like the strawberry. But the chocolate ROCKS!
You can prepare it as directed, but I like to put a scoop in the blender. Then I take a measuring cup and add 4 ice cubes, then enough water to bring it up to 8 oz. Sometimes I add a splash of milk.
It does NOT taste like your typical canned protein drinks - which always somehow taste a bit slimy and chemical to me.

Thanks to everyone for all the great advice. I'm going to start narrowing down what I like before surgery. When I had my band, I just did the skim milk and carnation breakfast because I couldn't find anything else I liked. Gotta do better this time!!!
