Abdominal pain

Haven't been here in ages, but knew it was the right place to come for help. I had Lap RNY in May 2007. 4 mos after I started having severe nausea. Day and night to the point I could only eat string cheese and applesauce. After a month of this I went back to my surgeon. His asst. put me on Prilosec 20mg daily. That fixed the problem or so I thought. About 6mos ago the nausea returned accompanied by bloating and abdominal pain, right sided mainly under my rib cage, but not solely. Back to my string cheese, applesauce and now, banana diet. Went back to the surgeon last December, who ordered endoscopy and CT scan. Scope showed ulcers for which the asst. treated by doubling my Prilosec to 40mg. For 2 mos the issue had been resolved. Now it's back, less nausea but more pain, a lot more pain. Spent 4hrs at the ER last week to be told all tests were WNL (within normal limits). ER doc stated it was "probably" the ulcers and increased my Prilosec to 80mg a day. Still on my version of the BRAT diet and now on a quadruple dose of Prilosec, I am not better. The nausea is pretty much gone, but not the pain. I am so frustrated with the doctors. The ER doc all but said, "Well you re-designed your insides so what did you expect?"!! There is something wrong with me and I need help. Feedback appreciated and thanks in advance.

Do you still have your gallbladder and appendix ?
Maybe you have adhesions and the only way to see them is through the dr. going in and takeing a look.
Did you go the ER where your bypass was preformed ?

I'm assuming your gallbladder was ultrasounded? There are also bigger guns than prilosec....and simply increasing the dose of one drug isn't generally the best approach. Carafate and prevacid are two that come to mind. Have you been scoped? That would be my next step. I would also be sure your surgeon is in the loop. The ER doc was an ********usan

Gall bladder and appendix both gone way before WLS. I did contact my surgeon and they thought the ER doc was an idiot. They droppped me back to the reg dose of Prilosec and added Carafate (sp) 4 x daily as a slurry...yuck!  I had an endoscopy and abdominal CT mid January when the ulcers were diagnosed. However, my surgeon wants another scope which is scheduled for Monday. Thank you both for replying.
