WOW Moments!

Thank you for sharing your WOW moments!

I hope to have my lap band by the end of July.   I have been suffering with TERRIBLE bilateral foot pain since Oct. 2010.   I have seen 2 foot specialists who say "you have 2 healthy feet, lose the weight".   A neurologist recently diagnosed me with neuropathy, but I don't believe it.

I have been using a walker this past week because I wore a pair of sandles last sunday for 2 hours and was on my feet and am now in severe pain.

Sleeping comes harder and harder, as the shooting pain wont allow me to fall asleep.   I work in a busy medical office and worrry I will have to quit working.

My goal is 100lb weight loss....my surgeon says 120lb.   For now I am shooting for 100.   Do you mind me asking which surgery you had?

You have given me the 1st glimpse of hope I have had in a very long time.  I look forward to hearing more about your journey and improved foot health

Its been a little over two weeks since my VSG.  I went to the hospital to rule out a blood clot (no clots, thank goodness)- but the other good news that came from my hospital visit is that only after 2 1/2 weeks I'm down 32lbs and my blood sugar was a 91 (after lunch!!).  Before the surgery I was about to cross the threshold into diabetes-- wow what a difference!

It would be impossible to name all my "wow" moments!  The biggest one of all I must say is when I was out dancing one night (that in its self is a "WOW") .... lol ..... but where the WOW moment came in was when my partner picked me up in the air.  I WAS SO STARTLED that someone had actually picked me up that I wanted to scream YEEHAW! Haha!  I also am really amazed when I am sharing with people about my exercise regimen, they have actually said "you've never had a weight problem have you?"  WOW WOW WOW !!! And, last but not least .... I LOVE IT WHEN SOMEONE doesn't recognize me! Ain't life grand ??

2 big WOW moments that come to mind for me were; Looking in the mirror after a shower and wondering what the heck those weird things were on my neck/chest area,  Ummm the collarbones I had never seen through my padding before.  Another was having a beautiful silk dress hanging as incentive prominently in my bedroom after my RNY waiting for me to fit it.  I tried it on when I thought the time was right and it was too fricking big!!

Where do I start!  90 pounds down I have many.  My first, and most remarkable "Wow" moment was when I could not use the top of my thigh and my belly fat to hold a piece of paper.  I used to tuck items under my stomach fat and hold it there.   Then one day I tried to hold a piece of paper there but it fell on the floor!  That was something.  Another "Wow" moment was when I got in my car and I looked down.  I saw two legs!  Not two big  sausages!  Good luck everyone!  Hopefully we will all have even more "wow" moments to share :)

I had the Gastric Sleeve one year ago this past December, my weight starting out was 294 lbs, I now weigh 139 lbs and wear a size 8 jeans, I still can't believe its me when I look in the mirror, I try to get to the gym at least 3 times a week and walk as far and as often as I can on the week-ends.
This was the best decision I have ever made in my life and I can't believe I watied so long to make it, thinkging I was to old - I was 62 when I had my surgery, I am no longer on any kind of medication, no  more high blood pressure no more pre-diabeties, no more sleep apenia.
I had my surgery thru Kaiser in Harbor City Calif, we had to attend 6 months of classes once a week and lose 10% of our body weight in those 6 months, and I belive it was those classes and training that has helped me keep this weight off,  I also try and attend Kaiser support group meetings as often as I can.

I am so happy for you Maria.  I too am diabetic and hoping to lose that status.  How long after surgy did it take for you to get off your insulin?  Which surgery did you have?  Best of luck to you on your journey to health and happiness.     Angel

Hi Angel, I had the RNY, and I was off insulin after about 3 months.  It is the most freeing feeling, my sugars still run high at times, but not enough to have me use insulin.  Thank you for your well wishes and good luck to you on your journey, its a hell of a ride.  :)  maria
