So while i was in the big city went to the giant mall to shop for sleepwear. I am kind of picky about what I want and was having no luck anywhere. Then I decided to go into Lane Bryant thinking a nightgown in their smallest size would be fine because I like them baggy anyway. Guess what, all the sales help TOTALLY IGNORRED ME!!!! Ha, so great to get ignorred in a big lady store. And to top it off in Nordstroms and Macy's the clerks were all over me. They used to ignor me in those stores. Pretty funny. Actually pretty cool. Hi,
There have been a lot of moments, but the best was when my Dad hugged me after I lost 105 pounds and said there is only half of you to hug now. He was so proud of me. He passed away June 2010 so he had the opportunity to see me accomplish my weight loss and know that I could maintain it.
I was 63 when I had sleeve surgery and had struggled with being over weight for a number of years.
These are a few other moments that I will always remember.
1. Tie my shoes and be comfortable.
2. Cross my legs
3. The first time someone called me skinny, I wasn't sure they were talking about me....they were
4. When someone I had worked with (I am retired) had walked right pass be because they didn't recognize me.
5. Had to carry my "fat pictures" with me because some of my students didn't believe that I was ever fat!
Thanks and take care of yourself. Weight loss is ALL about you and NO one else. Do it for yourself.

My NEW "WOW Moment" is based on a different scale !!!!
April 9, 2011 March 15, 2011 Sept 20, 2010
Total Cholesterol 119 125 156
HDL cholesterol 70 63 96
LDL cholesterol 41 53 53
Triglycerides 39 45 48
After I saw the Cardiologist in March, she reviewed my lab work with me. And she was quite taken with my numbers. So she went and looked at my numbers from 6 months before that, and WOW!!! We both were very taken back from the new numbers.
Well on my quest to address inflamation issues, and cleaner eating. I added olive oil and walnuts to my diet (another anti-inflamatory, as I have been having some knee issues, that have affected my exercising routine). NO processed foods (in my case no more grazing on cookies and crackers at work). I was adding about 1 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil w/flavored basamic vinegars 2x a day.
When I went to see my WLS dr. I showed the PA my lab results from my cardiologist, and explained to her how I had added more olive oil and walnuts into my diet, and I was very curious to know how much this would affect my bloodwork now. Also I wanted to know my levels for my vitamins etc... So she wrote up my script, and much to my delight and to her amazement my levels improved sooo much more. That was with me doing only 30 minutes of exercise and cleaning up my diet! My new numbers are listed above in red in the first column.
I am so excited, and amazed how much those numbers had changed in less than a month! I always read that you can change the course of things through your diet & exercise, but actually paying close attention to it in just a few weeks just amazes me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I want to be more conscious of what I am eating and aim to keep it there.
A real turning point for me! And here I thought my scale victories were over, they're not, just a different scale now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there have been many moments . . .
my bloodwork says no more medication for ANYTHING . . . no more sleep apnea and no more machine making me feel like i had an elephant's trunk attached to me at night. no more orthotics in my shoes (my feet haven't hurt at all!). i can play with my 2 year old on the floor and don't need help to get up off the floor and i don't run out of breath and call for my partner to play with him because i'm too tired. i bought clothes in a "regular" store.
my patient's at work don't confuse me with being a man any more (my stomach was bigger than my chest), one of my patients actually told me i've lost too much weight and i should stop losing (i still have 60 to go, she's just being kind).
anyway, i'm really happy i've done this, even though i sometimes complain that it's not happening fast enough.
lol, if anyone can tell me how to remove one of these tickers though, i would appreciate it . . . !

Hi Everyone!
I started out @ 284lbs. and have noticed so many changes post surgery (12/20/10) Dudodenal Switch; I toss medications into the garbage - OK down the toilet. The diabetes is gone, high blood pressure a thing of the past & my cholestoral is coming down into a normal range! I have little pain when I walk, I don't get out of breath, my clothes sizes are droping, slowly and in general I FEEL GREAT! I reached behind me and scratched my back, instead of leaning against t a corner in the house! Been tying my shoes and reaching them with out any problem, I don't get dizzy either. I can buckle the seat belt in any car now! I can fit into a booth at any resturant. The list continues! I am feeling very proud of myself these days! Since surgery I have lost 69 pounds!
The following are not WoW moments but concerns/problems I am encountering and would like input. I can shovel the food in...Why? How? Lately I've been trying to have a 'bonding experience' with my food, truly enjoying every morsel the, texture, scent, tasting each bite, going slowly. And still I am hungry (?) is this even possible?
Another problem is that I look 12 months pregnant - it's humiliating - my upper stomach area almost always distended. WHY? Third, my size is not shrinking so I may be loosing weight but my sizes aren't shrinking to match the weight loss. How come?
