WOW Moments!
I will share a short story that I did so maybe you will understand. Eating is so mental. I got home from hospital and I felt so mad and frustrated. I was sure I was starving. I could only handle a small amount of liquid or soup. I had finally had enough so what did I do??? I grabbed a piece of bacon and ate it thinking haha I just ate bacon. With in a few minutes I felt a horrible pain that put me on my knees. I was crying and in such pain. I went back to hospital and the er quickly called my surgeon and I had to tell him what I did. He was so mad at me and could not believe that I would do that. I told him I was hungry and he said no you weren't. I said yes I was. He said it was just me trying to mentally satisfy myself. Be patient and keep to your foods that are safe. You do not want the pain of dumping or over filling your new stomach. It will take time and a lot of it to eat and be able to eat regular foods again.
I get worried when I hear that surgeons aren't making sure you have all the educational pieces in place. A great book that may help is by Garth Davis and it's called The Expert's Guide to Weight Loss Surgery. I got it out of the library and it has everything in it that my own program has. I'm with Kaiser and they train you to the nth degree. This book was readable and relatable.
Find a support group in your area or if you can't spend a lot of time reading and asking questions on OH.
Good for you that you are making this great choice for yourself. I was allowed sugar free pudding and greek yogurt with splenda and sugar free jam or cinnamon and vanilla extract once I was discharged. They consider that part of the full liquid phase.
another great website with food information is bariatriceating.com
But the bottom line is ask your doctor.
Take care and enjoy your new life!

They have some good ideas on their website, but I would recommend hooking up with a good nutritionist as well as checking with your doctor to make sure what's right for you. We are all so different.
Best of luck and speedy recovery.
