Reactive Hypoglycemia

I do not know most of these answers.

All I know is my symptoms.  Dizziness, sometimes to the point I think I"m gonna faint though I never have.  but I've had black spots in front of my eyes.  Slight nausea.  A shaking feeling inside and my hands shaking so hard I can hardly work my glucometer.  Generally happens a little while after eating too many carbs.

1- not me!
2- don't know, but i have a theory that people who were NOT diabetic prior to RNY are more likely to get RH, adn former diabetics are less prone to it

7/18/10: 211lbs, 10/16/10: 174 lbs, 1/21/11: 146 lbs, 4/20/11: 131 lbs. Insulin FREE since 7/2010, "normal" BMI since 12/2010. I'm 31, 5'5", happily married, with a fabulous 3 year old boy, and hope to add to our family in the near future

Interesting, as I'm pretty sure I have RH, and I was not even close to being labeled diabetic, my blood sugars were always fine.

I do dump like a truck, have from 24 hours postop on (the things they gave me in the hospital made me dump) and my dumping is in many ways WORSE not better over time. Have had two "BAD" RH episodes (not verified with blood sugar though) that were immediately made better with the consumption of protein/complex carb snacks. MOST of the time I naturally eat in a way that keeps the RH at bay, but it seems I'm to be reminded when I slip up!

yep, the people i know with RH were not diabetic to start with. I think it's the whole thing where your pancreas is putting out the same amount of insulin as it did when you were larger, and in the case of diabetics, well, we suck at it, so since it doesn't have to work as hard to put out the same amount it stablizes us, and puts us into remission. those *****lapse due to unknown (really unknown not denial) reasons, may have smart pancreases that realize hey wait, we don't need to produce this much any more! but for a person who was not diabetic to begin with, getting as much insulin with less mass could cause severe drops. hence RH

this is all just my personal theory, please don't take it to the bank, they'll laugh at you, but i just thought I'd share my theories, since i'm full of them. hope this helps at least a little bit. but hey, i could be completely off base.

I am not a dumper and have never dumped.  But I am RH ... hit 60 last night after my 2 mile walk.  What's up with that?  Lately, I seem to have low blood sugar issues after my walks.  Any correlation?
