talking about waist to height ratio

for me, this is going to be a more useful measure than BMI I can tell. I'm at goal still ( some gentle ups & downs on the scale) but my abdomen is pooching out more.   it's not just skin and poor posture, either, it's more FAT.

thing is, when I read about measuring my waist they always say 1 inch above the belly button.

www.livestrong.com/article/93638-whtr-the-new-determinant-he alth-risk/

if I measure one inch above, I'm "fine" and I know I am NOT. if I measure at the belly button I am at increased risk (diabetes, heart disease, the usual) and I think this more accurately reflects what's going on.

if I measure where I am at MAXIMUM POOCH I am very, very sad.

oooh I've never done this..... makes me wonder... next time I get my slothful body upright I'll get out my measuring tape and do some measuring.

But like BMI I'm sure these things vary..... and are sometimes more accurate for some folks and less accurate for others. My torso is definately that of a taller woman, but I have short lower legs, so I'm guessing it'll be disturbing for me when I check it out. But hey, it's information.

The dog, on the other hand, I think it's safe to say he is just a TAD overweight.

yes, put that doggie on a program.

I am about to stop looking at my scale - I don't gain but even in my best bra my bust is no longer the first thing in the room.

I'm hating the scale myself.

Afraid that the next time I dress in "outside clothes" I won't fit in them!

I had the same issue, so the plastic surgeon took off my maximum pooch. I wish the elevated risks could go with it.

Funny thing is now that there is so little extra blub on my belly, that you can often see the progression of food through the gut if I've eaten a lot.

That poor dog looks like a hairy sausage with toothpicks stuck in it.

I didn't have the maximum pooch the first year and a half or two after sugery. I have just developed it. I think it is made of pizza and donuts.

plus I need to exercise more and manage stress better. luckily I was able to buy a car since my old one was stressing me out. yay!  donut? no thanks, I have a new car!

I think this is in the category of "your mileage may vary" -- Before my reconstructive LBL, I had a tiny waist because all my guts and skin slid DOWWwwwwwwwnnnnnnnn ....

Now that I'm neat, tidy, and put back together, my waist is actually "thicker," even though my weight is identical (maybe even lower).  So age, and the slow progression of things downward, will both impact the waist measurement.  And also, the height measurement.

Interesting..... I'm one percentage point from "extremely slim"

Very interesting.
