It's like that joke that kids love to tell: which weighs more, 1 pound of feathers or 1 pound of iron? The answer is that they BOTH weigh 1 pound! It's just that, like Ali said about the popcorn, to get a pound of feathers would take a LOT of feathers, and would amount to an enormous volume.

At 9-months out I wouldn't worry. It sounds like you're gaining muscle tissue that weighs more than fat. Keep up the excellent exercise. I'm an 11month post-op and I hit a couple of plateaus that lasted for about 3 to 4 weeks along the way. Just keep on keepin' on and the lbs. will start falling again. Dx

It can take up to 18 months to lose all your excess weight and anywhere from 6-8 months the weight loss can slow down to just a pound or two a month, so don't lose heart you are probably just getting into the slower end of the losing. Mary Beth

Thanks Mary Beth! I did not know that it can take up to 18 months to lose ALL the weight! WOW, that makes me feel ALOT better! I seriously thought I should have ALL my weight off by the "year" mark or sooner.......I guess I need to schedule some time with my surgeon, and let him explain things to me! Thanks so much for yor post! Hugs, Kathryn

You can get discouraged reading on this site how many people have lost all their weight within a year but if you really charted it out it is the minority that lose the weight that quickly. I hit my first real plateau and without a scale at my house I don't know if I am over it yet. At six months I had lost 75 lbs then when I went to my pcp the next month I was at the same weight. Oh well, I am so much healthier than I have been in the past that every thing else is just a plus. I have already gotten the most important things from this surgery.

I totally agree Mary Beth.....I hope I don't sound ungrateful! I have benefited SO much from this surgery, it is unbelievable!!! I guess I needed some encouragement, and supportive words from people like yourself, to let me know that I am OK, and things will be OK! Keep up the great work, sounds like you are doing wonderful too! Hugs, Kathryn

I surpassed my pant size goal, which was an 8, and I am now a 4, but the scale says I have 10 extra pounds. I work out every day, and contribute the extra pounds the the muscles I have built up in my arms and legs. As long as you feel good and are doing everything right, the sizes should drop faster than the pounds, especially as much as you exercise. Keep up the good work!

SIZE 4...............HOLY CRAP! That's awesome! One can only hope! I am wearing a comfortable size 16 right now, but could wear a size 14. I guess I get worried that I am done losing....which would be disappointing...TO ME! (don't send me hate mail) So you DON'T think I am done losing? Gosh, I hope not! Thanks for the encouragement! Hugs, Kathryn
