I am about 15 months out, at 8 months out I have kept losing and gaining the same 5-10 pounds?  I know I missed alot of the honeymoon time because I was sick with kidney stones, mono, and a stricture.  I know I have done well and weigh less than when I was 16, I just can't help feeling that I was gypped because of these problems.  I have had blood work done the WLS says that they are perfect.  Is it possible to stop losing after a short time like this?  Any ideas.

I'm not sure I'm only 13 days post-op but 133 pound loss is amazing! That is nothing to be upset about!

Maybe just go back to basics, start with liquids, revisit what you were doing and what you are doing. Start exercising more maybe...but you've lost a whole person. That's awesome!

Average weight loss with RNY is 100 pounds over the first year.  Most of that is lost during the first six months.  After six months, I was able to lose five pounds every three months.  You will have to work harder now to lose that last 30, but it can be done.  My honeymoon period lasted until 30 months.  I did not lose very much, but did not have any regain until 30 months.

Honeymoon period, bah.  I continued to lose weight for years and reached my goal at three years out.  (I was lazy.) I too had had kidney stones, etc.   You have to work harder or change things up.  Track your food on a program, exercise aerobically.  Limit processed Carbs.  Take into consideration what your excess skin might weigh.  Go for it!  Loris

I can TOTALLY understand.  I am 18 months out and from month 5 - 10 I had complications and was NOT allowed to lose ANY weight (I had a feeding tube and a PICC line to make sure I was not losing.)  Once I was able to lose weight again it was back on the program and losing again.  I upped my exercise over the summer, but I pretty much stopped lose (2 lbs./month).  Well, that sounded stupid, 2 lbs is still something!

Anyway, here I am 18 months post-op and I just spoke at my surgeon's interest meeting!  I said I had lost 118 lbs and still had more to lose.  He looked at me and smiled so I changed my statement to I still has more I WANT to lose.  At my appointment the next day I asked him about a goal as we have never had that discussion.  He figures we have about 7 - 10 pounds of plastics to remove, so that puts me at 135.

I am continuing to lose about 2 - 3 pounds/month and hope to make it to 130, but I can't help to think that my honeymoon spend connected to tubes have caused a negative impact on my weight loss eventhough my surgeon and nutritionist disagree.  I will say that during that time I did some serious weight shifting and although the scale is not moving a bunch I do continue to change sizes.

Hang in there, you can get to the wieght you want with determination!

I may have had a few extra potholes along the way, but the journey has been good!
