David resonates with me more than just about any person in the Bible because he was real. David bared his soul. When you read his words you can just feel all of his doubts, fears, joy and pain. When David was happy, he danced. When he felt persecuted, he whined.
When he loved and praised God, he did it with his whole heart.
David was flawed. He did some serious screwing up. Still, in the end, he turned his life around and allowed God to use him for His own purpose.
David shows us that God looks at the heart. Even though a life has not been lived in a perfect way, God looks beyond that and sees who we are and what we are capable of becoming.
So Blessed!,
You offer some very insightful comments about David. One of my favorite quotes is David's, "Is there not a cause?" When offering to face Goliath. I don't believe he did it for Saul's daughter. I believe he did it because he believed in the cause. As a Christian, I want to serve God because there is a cause-reaching the lost. I hope it is not just for the benefits that comes with being a Christian. I appreciated your response.

I'm not sure either why David was a man after God's own heart. Maybe because he trusted in the Lord so completely and loved God so much and His Word. He was constantly talking to God as we see in the book of Psalms. It will be interesting to read what others come up with.
Congratulations on getting your surgery and losing 12 lbs in just a week. That's a wonderful start! Nice to have most of the discomfort being you, isn't it?
He certainly trusted the Lord and love His word! I hadn't thought about it, but yes, David was always talking to God. We know David for his feats, his talents, and yes we know him for his sins. I love Psalms 51, when after being confronted by Nathan, David repented. Many times when I have failed the Lord, I have prayed that same prayer. David could have had Nathan's head on a platter. But he accepted Nathan's, "You art the man!" Oh, what if we could have leaders like that today?
I have missed you. I am glad the worse is behind me. I really feel so good! Thanks for stopping by.
