We have an actual product called "Potted Meat" here in the Northwest. In fact, there are several brands. Libbys is the biggest. Its not bad, scrapped thin over wasa or wheat thins. Basically it's a poor man's pate. I just love to be eating it and have someone ask me what it is. I read the ingredients and they turn green. "Mechanically seperated chicken" ... something about that term just cracks me up! LOL! Don't take my word for it, though, visit the museum!!! I liked underwood deviled ham or chicken. I dont like spam(because we were made to eat it as a child cuz somebody worked at the plant and we got alot of it).

As a kid, we couldn't get enough of the stuff. (I am 1 of 12.) It was mixed with a lot of Miracle Whip and spread thinly over Wonder bread so it would be enough to go around. The first thing I did upon moving out on my own was buy a whole can of Potted meat, mixed with real Mayo and spead it THICKLY over a slice of bread!!!!!! YUCK!!! It was gross. I don't know how we ever ate that as kids. I will never ever have a can of that stuff in my house!!! I won't even give it to the dogs!!!

Hey, I keep a can of it in the frig all the time. It's PERFECT for 'hiding' a pill in when the dog needs medication. (*grin*)
